I'm sure it's some sort of made up word that makes people feel fashionable. That's form the same poster who is obsessed with gladiators. God, I can't wait until those go out of style.

A shootie is a combo of a boot and a shoe. It hits below the ankle. The term has been around for 2-3 years now.

A bootie is similar but cuts above the ankle.

Why feed your kids when you can look good instead?

Anonymous wrote:You can't wear the same shoe with dresses, pants, capris and shorts. It throws off the proportions not to mention the overall vibe of the outfit. The wider the bottom of the garment, the higher the heel that needs to go with it.

Only works if the dress is pegged and short and the pants are all skinny.

For travel, I'd love to have one shoe for day (good walking shoe, NOT gym shoes, not flip-flops) and one dressy heel for evening. Shoes take up too much space in my suitcase to bring more than the minimum. To go with your narrow bottom for flatter shoe guideline, assume pencil skirt, capris that are narrow at the bottom (and only a couple inches over the ankle bone), long shorts, possibly some straight leg pants or jeans.

I've tried on both Keen and primo - thinking I would love them - and found them to be horribly uncomfortable. Must depend on the feet.

Same here.

They are also extremely ugly shoes!

Anyway, I just bought the Pikolinos Alhambra Mary Jane, and they are incredibly comfortable, light-weight, and cute! On sale for $91 at Zappos, and MADE IN EUROPE! LOL

OMG those are so ugly.

Disagree totally. Love them. I think a lot of the high heels I see are extremely ugly. Hate those shooties and booties. Ew.

they say you can judge a lot about a person's personality by their shoes. I think when posters give advice on this forum, they should state what shoes they are wearing, just to give readers context. If you're a keen kinda gal, then stick with those posters, or a shootie girl, then you know where to look....

I concur. And I'm a target shoe aficionado...

I have shoes that I literally only walk from car to destination. I have shoes that literally only wait for the car service or cabs and drive directly to place b/c mama cannot wear them long AT ALL. Doesn't everyone do this? I mean, do we have to choose? And why not the fashion sneakers??? They are cute, I get orthopedics in them (from Fleet Feet) to give some ooomph, and then I do not look so frumpadoo. They go with yoga pants, jeans, whatev.

Fabulous. I'm adding this to my vocabulary. Sadly, this is a word that will get frequent use in my life!

It is also important to give us an idea of your age as we talk about shoes. I'm hearing alot of "cute". If we are past 30, do we really want to look cute? Don't we want to look more sophisticated?

Thus said, anyone past college age should not be wearing Mary Janes, unless they are Blahniks.
