Will you pull your child out of your club for the fall?

Just not sure if the tournament will happen. No list released at this point.

And that is the problem. Lots of teams who normally would go are just not going to do so and for a variety of reasons.

Considering the long layoff for many players and teams as well as the tourney being branded as a "fall kickoff" frankly most of the regular out of state clubs from MASS to Texas etc are just not going to pay and travel for a tournament that is essentially intended to kick the rust off. There are just to many local options for those clubs to choose from.

Easily half of the tournament drew teams from well outside of our region. Sorry, but they just are not coming.

So what you will be left with is mostly DMV clubs having to stay in Richmond hotels. Under the best of circumstances the thought of having to stay in Richmond to play local clubs is just dumb on its face value.

Dumb? The only thing dumb here is your self-righteous attitude...Nobody on our side think it's dumb when we don't even know if we'll have a fall season. Also, nobody cares about spending a little doe on decent hotel room. You don't even know who is signed up! Local tournaments are such a mixed bag of teams anyways. Loudoun's tournament was horrible. August Cup, horrible. And then there is OBGC which we are already signed up for.

But this Jeff Cup topic is simply a example of where people's minds are at currently. Large tournaments will be scaled back by market demands to more local events. Leagues like ECNL will need to consider local heavy scvhedules for the fall and the same with GA.

So the original question for the thread was "will you pull your child out of your club for the fall"? And the answer to that is pretty varied.

1. Some parents are concerned that there will be no fall season and therefor do not want to pay for another season of Zoom calls. They may have a personal trainer on the side they would rather spend that money on.
2. Some parents will be fine signing their kids up for anything the club is offering.
3. Some parents will do local leagues and tournaments but may balk at some team events.
4. Some parents, due to losing a job may not be able to afford travel soccer at all this fall.

There are a lot of reasons for peoples valid decisions. And frankly, there are more valid reasons for limited participation than there are for full participation. Blaming Club Dictators or people being to cheap to "spend a few bucks" on a hotel for a unnecessary out of town tournament comes off as rather tone deaf. I'm sorry this fall is not going to play out the way you hope it does. We all wish it was different but most of us are accepting of the reality and challenges the coming months will bring.

I will consider consistent training and a limited season a win for this fall.

Nice post!

Agreed across the board. I am simply not going to judge other peoples' decisions in this environment, whether about school, leaving the house, getting a haircut, or playing soccer. This is like religion. Ideally, we have our own views and do not condemn or openly judge or criticize others for their particular views or nonbelief. I must say I have been surprised that there was not substantially more attrition in the area. We have the same number of teams on the boys side (maybe one or two more in particular age groups) and are in a socioeonomically diverse club. I almost suspect that the club has not compelled payments at this juncture and simply rolled people over to next season.

We pulled out. Very hard decision. We purchased some fitness equipments so kids and us can stay fit without venturing out. When the pandemic is over we hope our family will stay intact, and speed and stamina will make up for some of the skills. One day at a time.

LOL. Unless you have someone older than 75 living with you, I have no idea why you would. CoVid is less dangerous than the Flu for those under the age of 19!

It’s similar to a bad case of the Flu for those age 40 to 60. 20 to 40 show little to zero symptoms.

I personally know 20+ people through all of these age demographics that follow the trend. One of which had half a lung and cancer! He was in the hospital for a month. None passed away. Four got were sick for about two weeks. Kids were never affected.

My goodness. What happened to people’s ability to think for themselves? Social media? Biased news sources? Politics? All of the above? It’s really disheartening.

Oh well, not like anyone is going to change the world on a youth soccer forum, lol. I guess many of you are enjoying the quarantine life and can’t really argue that.

Maybe we’ll play again in, hmmmmm, never? Or are you going to go have some random unproven vaccine put inside you and your kids. You probably don’t even realize the H1N1 vaccine killed more kids than CoVid up to this point do you? Really, I could go on and on. I could post statistics and facts all day long but you still would refuse. Ignorance is bliss I guess.

I wish I could end on a positive note but the more I read forums like this and others, the less Hope I have for youth soccer. If only my DD played baseball!

Just accept the fact that the fall is not going to go the way you want. You should move to Texas or Florida.

Haha, just calm down. Personal decision, natural selection. No need to judge others.

Texas and Florida 8-10 times safer than New York or New Jersey so that actually is good advice. Except you really weren't being serious.

If you honestly believe that Florida and Texas are safer now than here please keep your kids the eff away from my kids.

Your delusions make you dangerous.

Please, move to Florida.

We just had someone on my kids team get COVID-19. They didn't even cancel practice at the field they practiced at. We were out of town so not exposed. Fall sports will be anyone's guess!

I have heard of a case involving a softball team. Anytime you have people travel together there is risk.

You’ll feel great paying thousands while your kid has a high fever and you’re waiting on test results a week after a tournament.
