| I would love to see intensive rehabilitation for youth offenders covered bynthe Mayor /DC council. These kids move anonymously in and out of the system, the run away from poorly administered halfway homes, theor crimes escalate. If they are arrested for a serious crime, they shouldnt be released without time served, good behavior AND attaining some metrics that will change their life choices: counseling, GED or job training. And then they should be monitored on release. I cant stand bills like Allens that dont put anything proactive or preventative in the front end, and at the back end do nothing to protect society upon release. |

No. But people in Appalachia aren’t running around killing each other while simultaneously blaming someone else. |
White people in Appalachia kill themselves with meth and their children with poor food, poor gun safety, and drug created medical conditions then they blame black people for taking jobs/opportunities away from them that their own chosen leaders systematically removed generations before. |
| It’s good to know there was just one culprit and this wasn’t more widespread. |
You don’t actually know people in Appalachia, do you? Because they do, in fact, do these things. They kill each other left and right and are incredibly xenophobic. |
And they blame other people! |
No one in the city, white and black, went to street to protest for them and paint the street With “white lives matter”. At least the blackS care and want change. The poor whites have no interest in lifting thenselves. |

I see the arguments that if we protest police murdering people, then we have to protest all murders. I agree and that is done all the time in DC.
I will note that we just had a massive march in DC - March for Our Lives to protest gun violence and call for gun reform laws. Guns do so much damage to society - from suicides, to accidential shootings to murder. Being Black, I know victims of gun violence. It is often completely senseless and always heartbreaking. You can't agrue that gun violence is solely an urban, Black, "liberal" issue. That just distracts from the enormity of the situation. |
Struck a nerve I see. |
+1 . Those meet-ups are great for their Instagrams and college applications though! 🙄 |
Yeah they can go in and try to help. Their cars will get busted in, they’ll be called Uncle Tom and slammed for leaving their community. (Ask my DH). |
Yes I’m thinking he didn’t fall that far from the family tree. They might not have been ax murderers, but they probably were great role models or involved parents. (As if there were likely two around.) |
I am from a country that is predominantly one race and ethnic culture. It makes it so much simpler! The hard-working underclass move up. The lazy or criminal ones do not. |
I was totally with you until the last line. No one in Appalachia is blaming African-Americans for the demise of the coal mines. |
