Your frame of reference is way out of date. Times have changed.

This may have been true 15-20 years ago but it no longer is.

Great Falls is majority republican - there are bumper stickers that read “yes, Democrats DO live in Great Falls”. 😂

Not necessarily, in my experience. I can count on one hand the number of Trump signs I saw in my neighborhood, and they were outnumbered by far. All of my military neighbors voted blue.

What makes you think the number of Trump signs has any relationship to voting? None of the Trump supporters I know have signs or bumper stickers lest their house or car be vandalized.

We are in the District and live next to a rabid, raving, hat-wearing Trump supporter who is old, a Fed and has a PhD. And his silent, surly wife. Impossible to converse with him without direct Brietbart quotes, or perhaps Qanon on a lucky day. Told me early covid victims deserved to die because they were homosexuals.

Wife never engages. Red hat wearing husband is super friendly until he has a chance to slip his agenda in, as above. Shoed away #BLM advocates passing out flyers on our block last week - said nothing when anti-Semitic flyers landed on our doorsteps two years ago. And refused to welcome the lesbian couple who moved in across the street.

All to say you never know who will be your next-door neighbor. We never expected this.

DP but what are the facts? There is a significantly higher percentage of POC in NoVa than in DC? Or there is a significantly higher percentage of immigrant?

Yup. I wouldn't risk my 20 year old perfectly maintained car for a stupid bumper sticker.

Admitting and voting are two very different things.

There are more Asians and Hispanics (20.2% and 16.4% respectively) in FFX than DC (11% Hispanic, 4% Asian), but fewer blacks (10% vs. 45%). Significantly more immigrants in FFX (31% vs. 14.7% in Dc).

yeah, Burke and West Springfield are pretty conservative, comparatively. Lots of military families.

I def feel like Loudoun County as a whole is much more conservative obviously, having grown up in Ffx County and living in Arlington County briefly

I’m the VA native PP. I certainly know things are changing. But based on both anecdotal evidence from coworkers, poll numbers, and personal, not always pleasant interactions while canvassing in 2018, I still prefer MD/DC for raising a family. VA still just has a very different feel. I should also say we have immigrant roots but are (multiracial) black, which affects my perspective and comfort level.
