I love this. Thank you!

Sewanee/Rhodes.

Both Conn and Trinity are amazing, fit the OP's needs, are under-rated and need aware. However, a 3.0 GPA will be hard for admissions unless both full pay and Early Decision, and even then iffy since 30ACT is below their 75%. Being male will help also, especially at Conn ED.

Full pay is key. ED doesn’t matter at all here, at least for males.

Also look at Dickinson, Marist, and Muhlenberg

My 2020 DC had a 3.2 and 26 ACT. Accepted at Muhlenberg, Connecticut College and Oberlin. WL at Elon.

Oberlin? Wow they are really reaching. (Not to get off track, but weird to see a school getting less selective over time.)

I went there for grad school. If he is okay with a very liberal environment... The campus is compact and pretty and within walking distance of a mall. Check the male/female ratio since it used to be all female.

I am the PP and this is my DC. Like I mentioned before, my child is talented in the arts and I suspect that matters to Oberlin in admissions.

Totally wrong. But thanks for playing. We have some lovely parting gifts and a copy of our home game.

Full pay yes but the schools mentioned don’t have an overwhelming ED contingent. 2.9 and 26 ACT still resulted in merit money., regular decision. So perhaps not totally wrong.

From Conn Coll or Trinity? I think not.

And yes both those schools have a strong ED round where need aware/full pay is a major factor.

We visited Goucher a couple of years ago and loved the admissions presentation. It really resonated with me and my daughter and we had a really great impression. But, we found the campus to be very empty and that concerned me. We decided that if she was going to apply that we'd have to go back for another visit to check the campus out again - it could have been an off day for some reason. They've also made some changes to their majors in the last couple of years that you may want to look into. They got rid of theater as a major, which really surprised me for such an artsy school, so we ended up taking it off the list. When we visited, I also believe that they were putting the finishing touches on a really nice new freshman dorm. HTH.

Yet it is true. Well worth trying with OP’s stays. Particularly if male. Was not DS’s cup of tea but it was nice to receive. And we did visit, which may be relevant

Even Princeton has announced no ED! All colleges seem to be going with one single round of admissions (regular). Maybe because everyone’s test optional, they want to see first semester senior grades?

No, I do not believe you at all. Four points under the 25th percentile for Conn and three points under the 25th percentile for Trinity with a 2.9 GPA you wouldn't even get admitted RD let alone get merit aid.

Yes, it sounds like they want to see first semester grades. However, so far, Princeton seems to be the only college to have eliminated the early round for this fall. (Also, Princeton's early plan was restrictive Early Action, not ED.) We will have to wait and see if anyone else follows.

You’re right. I read the article too fast. It says P was the last of the Ivies to go test optional. I incorrectly thought it was the last of the Ivies to drop ED. Will be interesting to see what happens.

It won't matter. The Ivies want to make a political statement not admit the "best' students in the traditional sense of that word. Until parents understand the ensuing bullshit, we will get the same crap graduates from the Ivies.
