It is the economy.

We have almost 20 million unemployed.
We have a -6.5% GDP growth (ie contraction)
We have trillions in new debt and deficit spending out the wazoo.

Yes, the stock market is up from its lows, but the stock market doesn't equal the economy.

We have almost 20 million unemployed, because we ordered businesses to close and paid people to stay home.

And these were ordered because the President failed to otherwise prepare for a pandemic. The business were already suffering. The Fed showed that the recession started in February. Trump didn't acknowledge the pandemic until March and it is June and we still don't have the testing and tracing protocols in place. Without that, the public generally doesn't feel safe to travel, to eat at restaurants or to ride elevators in office buildings. Solve or address the virus and the economy can rebound. Somehow a myraid of other countries have been able to do this. it just exposes how horrible a leader Trump is.

I'd love to hear how you would "solve" the virus. Should we be like China and just weld people shut in their homes?

Why not look to how New Zealand, Australia, South Korea, or Germany did it? They are all better than us, both in terms of health and economy. Or how about Canada?

Or do only cuck globalists not want to kill 200k Americans by the end of the summer while also killing the economy?

To wit:

I feel like I have asked this a hundred thousand times in the last four years - but why are Trump supporters' expectations so low? Don't you think the (once but not now) greatest country on earth should have managed the pandemic better? Or are you all "we're number one! [for preventable deaths] woo!"?

My local paper seems not to have heard the news that the economy's doing great

https://www.tampabay.com/news/business/2020/06/11/unemployment-claims-continue-to-rise-in-florida-and-beyond/

The U.S. unemployment rate unexpectedly dropped in May, but claims for unemployment assistance have continued to roll in during June.

Another 1.54 million displaced workers nationwide applied for unemployment benefits last week, the U.S. Department of Labor said Thursday. Since the start of the pandemic, more than 44 million workers have sought relief after being laid off, furloughed or seeing their gig work evaporate.

In Florida, another 110,520 filed claims for unemployment assistance last week, down from nearly 208,000 the week before. Through Tuesday of this week, the state Department of Economic Opportunity said more than 1.9 million people had applied for unemployment assistance.

Of those, 1.3 million have received a total of $4.95 billion in state and federal aid.

Still, problems remain for many applicants who struggle to use a balky state unemployment website and then wait for the money to start arriving. Some say they’ve received partial aid without any explanation why.

The cupboards were empty (thanks Obama), yet 45 stopped everything and delivered supplies in a timely manner. That's because of this amazing economy and the ability to adapt. That will continue into the fall and we will be back.

A drop of new claims of 100k in one week is good news. Thought the left was warning of mass deaths if Florida opened too soon? Hypocrites!

If “the cupboards were empty” how did Trump have 17 tons of PPE to give to China in February?

Because we ordered businesses to close and paid people to stay home.

So did Japan and South Korea. Do they also have economic meltdowns?

You need to show your work that Japan and South Korea had the same degree of shutdown as experienced in the US.

They didn’t have to, because they were better prepared for the pandemic with testing and contact tracing.

This. They did an excellent job identifying and tracking Covid cases, so it never took hold. Plus they wear masks religiously.

We are having a spike in new cases here actually. As are other states.

Gd you're so stupid.

That has proven to be fake. The cupboards were bare because Trump gave everything to China, Ukraine and other countries. If they were bare when he took office, he had three years to prepare for January/February, but the fact that you still repeat this falsehood is sad. Here I helped you with the search:

For starters, I would have learned from other pandemics, like the ones Obama dealt with and documented and left a playbook and staffing to identify and manage. Second, in following that playbook, I would have ensured our front line workers and the public in general had what they needed in terms of PPE, masks, gloves etc. Third, I would have taken it seriously rather than calling a democratic hoax. Somehow, other countries are opening back up, managing through testing and tracing while we have a thousand people a day dying, and that number is growing.

It is so sad that Trump supporters have such low expectation that over 100,000 dead and 25% of the global deaths doesn't even register a raised eyebrow.

Tucker is spot on with this monologue. Our leaders (starting with Fauci) lied or was oblivious to how this affects the economy

The economy is going to be a heck of a lot worse when supply chains break because so many are out sick.

The numbers do not back Carlson's assertion because the recession started before the Pandemic was acknowledged by the Administration. But go on believing Fox News, the bastion of truth.

Why is PP inserting Fauci's name to figure out the economic piece? He's there for the public health aspect of the response.
