So now we're just tasing people to save police officers' time? Yes, I would rather see a police officer tied up for hours than see a person whose only crime was being high or mentally ill in public subjected to cruel and dangerous use of force. That's not even a hard question.

Isn’t it more costly paying for comfortable paying for the overtime and additional officers to replace all the other cops who responded to the incident who now have been suspended pending further criminal and administrative investigations thanks to Sergeant Dumbass? Isn’t the likely civil suit to come more costly?

In the future, officers will simply allow people in that state to continue wandering around incoherently, and clear the scene after the first response.

Next time they will simply determine he was conscious, breathing, and not currently endangering anyone, and leave.

Then the person will continue doing whatever they are doing, until/if they harm someone, at which point the police will come back and arrest him.

This is a very ignorant response. So every person that is going to commit suicide (danger to self) should be tased. Somebody on a bridge ready to jump... just taser him because it's "taking too long".

I'm sure that was the sweet ol' lady next door having a fit of dementia and was wandering around blathering like that folks would be up in arms if a cop just walked onto the scene and immediately tasered her then proceeded to smack her upside the head with the gun then taser her again.
