Those of us who want a return to practice and open fields need to start getting in the ears of local officials in a constructive way. Fairfax County parks and fields are still currently blocked off and closed though the evidence points to outdoors in the sunlight as one of the safer (and healthier) places to be.

It really pissed me off to hear that DC has relaxed open container laws so DC Bars can serve To Go cocktails. DC area politicians are lobbying for extended lockdown authority and meanwhile they are relaxing laws for DC Bars? Meanwhile we cannot take walks in parks or practice on soccer fields. Things are out of whack and I don't think the politicians are seeing things clearly. We are calling this a lockdown while it is really becoming more of an arbitrary restriction of certain activities.

Almost every state has relaxed their liquor laws over a month ago.

Ncsl won’t be starting anytime soon. Dc will be shuttered for at least another 4-8 weeks.

Do you think that makes sense? Legalize open container in DC while you prevent kids from practicing soccer?

One has nothing to do with the other. Its irrelevant.

Here is how they are related. They are both "non-essential" activities that could lead to viral spread. Why is someone going out to buy a To Go cocktail on a DC street versus having a drink at home? They want to get out of their apartment. Maybe they then decide to have the drink on a patio and chat with some friends. We have seen photos of this. So let's compare these activities.

DC Open Containers - unhealthy, previously illegal
Soccer Practice - healthy activity for kids, previously legal

DC Open Containers - unsupervised, mildly intoxicated people that could spread a virus, could use poor judgement
Soccer Practice - adult supervised, physically distanced - has been demonstrated in Bundesliga practices to be safe

Which sounds like the activity that should be allowed? Mayor Bowser has been telling anyone and everyone that DC is nowhere near ready to "re-open", "enter Phase 1", or whatever it is we call limited freedom these days. When DC government actually relaxes laws to allow an additional, "risky" activity, it just all looks like a show.

Some serious mental gymnastics going on trying to bring DC open container laws, NCSL, and the Bundesliga into the same conversation.

Bundesliga gross revenues -4.2 billion euros. Testing 2x a time =/= travel soccer.

All dumb. If you aren't testing before school, you won't test before every practice or game. It's ludicrous for kids under 13, where risks are infintesimal. If you don't want to take it, return indoors and stay there for 4-5 years.

But but, I work for the State, my next door neighbor is a Navy Seal.....and and Youth Travel Soccer is Essential.

And and and I don’t care what the medical and health professionals say, cause they are all wrong. I might not have a PhD in healthcare, but I stayed at the Holiday Inn. Hence, everyone is safe especially the kids. They don’t need education as it’s not essential at all, only soccer is.

Now please, get back to the Thread Topic.
