If you are working full time and parenting ... do you workout?

We set up a gym in our garage. Before that went to the gym three times in six months due to new baby. Now I work out 5 or 6 days a week due to the convenience. It's a powerlifting setup but we both use it. Squats, bench, deadlifts, pullups etc.

I've been doing 4-6 miles a day just walking around with the kids. This doesn't include yard work, weeding, etc.

Yes, but our kids are older 10, 14, 18. We get up at 6 and run and work out with weights. The workout takes the plCe of what used to be our commute time.

I kind of hate people with older kids right now. They don't remember what it's like to be up in the middle of the night or have a toddler that needs constant supervision. When I get a moment that I'm not working or caring for the kids, I just need to rest. So no, I'm not working out. I'm gaining weight and it sucks, but I'm exhausted and burnt out.

Nope. We have a 3 year old. DH's job is completely inflexible, demanding he be available from 8 am to 6 pm, he's constantly on calls or zoom meetings with clients or his team. That means I'm trying to get in a couple of hours of uninterrupted work from 6-8 am, then again after the kid goes to sleep. Plus try to do some work during the day and deal with any calls and zoom meeting--all while wrangling a pre-schooler. Maybe I get a walk in with the kid during the day, but I'm not getting in anything that might be considered a workout.

Nope, I haven't worked out like I used to in 3 years and 2 months. DS just turned 3 last month and I also have a 1 year old. "Workouts" don't happen anymore, but I'm constantly chasing them around, lifting them up, etc. so I consider that exercise.

My kids are 9 and 12. We work out together.

Yes but my kids are 6 and 10 so it’s obviously a lot easier for me. Lower your expectations with a 5 month old! Do 25 minute workouts in your living room, that’s about all I was capable of when my kids were that little

I didn't read all the other posts. To answer question directly, yes, but my kids are older so we're living in different worlds, OP! I try to run or walk a few miles a day, I do some workouts on our Kinect Xbox and I'm playing tennis w/ my kids.

If you have a 5 month old and you are working full time, cut yourself some slack!! My suggestions would be to take advantage of the coming nice weather and do lots of walks with the stroller. I actually love doing conference calls while I'm walking my dog; I find I focus more. If you have work that = conference calls, give it a try if you can do it while being away from your computer.

Also maybe develop some exercises you can do throughout the day for short bursts -- a series of planks, sit ups, push ups, hand weights? Aim to do 10 minutes twice or three times a day. It's something!
