If you are working full time and parenting ... do you workout?

I was doing a workout by myself most days after the kids went to sleep. Usually 30 minutes with weights, sometimes longer. I got sick and stopped for a few weeks, but I'm going to try to get back into it.

I workout in the morning, something quick, usually 7:00 - 7:30, either an outdoor run or a video inside.

Here is my typical schedule with a 15 month old -

6:30 am - 6:30 pm: Run after the kid, try to squeeze in 3-4 hours of work while alternating childcare with spouse during the day.
6:30 pm: Kid goes to sleep. We eat dinner.
7-8:30: Work
8:30-9:15: Workout, quick shower
9:15-11/12: Work

So, it's not a ton of time to workout, and to be honest I'd rather be doing something else, but I need those 30 minutes to give me enough energy to finish the night.

I do intermittent workouts. Every 45-60 minutes, I take a break and do squats, or pushups, or crunches, or jump rope, etc. I can't really work in a full 30-60 minutes at any point, but I can build in lots of shorter movement breaks.

Can you wear the baby or push the baby in a stroller while you walk?

We have done a few family workouts in the yard and I've also done some online yoga and kickboxing workouts.

I'm up at 4:15 to get on my treadmill and do some HITT strength training videos on You Tube. I'm at my home office at 5:30 until 8:30 when my husband goes to work in our kitchen. I then work during nap time for 2.5 hours and then for an hour or so after dinner. I also make up some time on weekends. It sucks but that is the way it is now.

Prior to this, I did a boot camp class from 6:00-7:00 and then took my kid to preschool at 8:00, came back to work all day. I've worked at home since 2004 so that isn't new to me but not having child care is.

I manage to do a fitness video on dailyburn after my 6 year old goes to bed a few times a week. But that only works if I don't have a ton of work to do after her bedtime (which is increasingly challenging because I have a backlog and need to ramp back up).

I take a three mile walk every day.

I exercise every day now, and could never find the time before. My kids are older (8 and 12) so I can leave them home alone, but with my husband home it's not a problem regardless. We each take turns getting out for 30-60 minutes each day. Without commutes, school pick-ups, and after school activities we have much more time.

Yes, but we don't do it at the same time because someone needs to always be available for the kids. I do it first thing in the morning so I'm up before everyone else. My husband does it at some point during the day but he takes way less time to shower and get ready afterwards. We didn't do it for the first few weeks because we were just totally overwhelmed. It's not that things have gotten so much better but more than we've realized we're in this for the long haul so we better figure something out. If I were you, I'd probably do it when your baby naps, if you can. Or get up before everyone else. Personally, I need to get my workouts in first thing or I come up with tons of excuses not to do them.

My kids are 8 and 4, and my husband and I are taking every other day to go for a run or a bike ride or something, just to keep sane. We do it whenever it makes sense with our work schedule for the day. I just got back from a run bc my day was busier than normal, but other days I'll go at 4, or at 1 or whatever.

No. I have an 8 and 10 y/o. FT executive role and am working 5:30am - 12am, with breaks for “breakfast” and “dinner and bedtime.” I very much wish I had exercise time but my time in front of a screen is exponentially more than non-pandemic times.

Nope. I’m gaining weight. I’m so burnt.

I'm a nurse who works night shift (11p-7a) with a 7 year old and a husband working from home. I will give my schedule and obviously times can be changed for people with normal hours:

get home around 8-830 and shower. Then set up DS with what his schedule is for the day (none of his classes are live so we can tailor his schedule to fit around ours) DH and I go over it together so he can help out. DS is able to do about 75% of it with minimal assistance.

I sleep 9/930 - 2/3. For 30 min. I relax for a little bit.

Then I work out for an hour. I have a boxing bag, TRX stuff, weights, and have a few apps with HIIT activities. DS sometimes hangs out with me during this and dances/plays. Most days I'm done with this around 430

I hang out with DS until about 530-6. Then either DH or I cook dinner.

After dinner is relaxing, picking up, or a nap before I to work.

On my days off, I go over DS' work and help him fix things he needs to as well as help with the 25% of things he needs more assistance with.
