DH doesn't wash his hands after restroom.

This thread is just sad.

+1. My exDH gave my kid giardiasis because he doesn’t wash after the toilet. Thankfully, I never let him use my bathroom when he visits with the kids at my house.

It’s gross. My DC had to take a heavy antibiotic to get rid of it and DC was left lactose intolerant for a couple of months afterwards.

I agree with the one post, we don’t pee on ourselves when taking a piss so it’s not like we’re contaminated or anything. As for going #2, I’d say it’s more typical then not to wash your hands afterwards.

I’ve worked in an all male work setting for 30 years and I assure you my commitment is true. One question for the OP, if you get up in the middle of the night to pee do you go to the sink and wash your hands at 4AM? My point exactly.

maybe we run in different circles but i have to disagree. most guys don't wash well - not 20sec wash with lots of soap... but guys do wash.

My husband does not wash his hands after peeing. I've accepted it.

Female. I rarely wash my hands after peeing at home. I don't touch anything other than dry clean toilet paper.

If I did get my hand wet or I touched my genitals, i would wash my hand but I don't pee or drip pee on my hand or touch my genitals when I pee. The only thing I touch is dry paper.

If I think I contaminated my hand in some way then yes, I wash it but that doesn't happen very often.

I wash my hands when out in public because I am touching door stalls and door handles and things other people have touched.

Do you flush with your foot at home?

I will say that if this bothered my husband, I'd change. It just doesn't seem like a big deal! I also think this was how I was raised, my parents and brother don't either.

Omg, this is just nasty. A whole family of nasties.

No Op but I do go to the bathroom at around 3am and YES I do wash my hands. My DH on the other hand doesn’t always wash his hands and our 10 yr old asked me about it the other day.

This made me laugh out loud. These people are sickkkkk. You don't touch anything other than dry clean toilet paper? ... so you don't touch the seat cover to lift it up to go or put it down so you can flush without spraying particulate on the dry "clean" toilet paper?

if this thread is representative of the population, I'm never shaking hands again. Ugh.

Same. I don’t know what others are doing when they pee but under normal circumstances (not on my period for example) all I touch is toilet paper

Ugh. My husband doesn't wash his hands after peeing either and honestly even though I love the guy dearly it's made me consider divorcing him and marrying a woman. Yes, even at 4 am I wash my hands. I'm so grossed out by men sometimes.

You touch the flusher, don't you?

Blech. It's so gross.

No, that is not normal. Do you have kids? They teach kids in preschool to wash after using the restroom, before eating, etc.

For reference, wash your hands:

Before, during, and after preparing food
Before eating food
Before and after caring for someone at home who is sick with vomiting or diarrhea
Before and after treating a cut or wound
After using the toilet
After changing diapers or cleaning up a child who has used the toilet
After blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing
After touching an animal, animal feed, or animal waste
After handling pet food or pet treats
After touching garbage

I'm the PP and while I can understand a difference of opinion on the particular instance of washing your hands after you pee in your own home without company over, and while there are several things here I always do (wash before preparing food, before and after caring for a sick person, after taking the garbage out, after cleaning the cat litter) some of the things on this list are insane. After touching an animal?? I pet my cat a thousand times a day. After changing a diaper? Have you ever had a newborn? You're exhausted and changing 12 diapers a day. Get real.

I am a non washer but I too don't think I want to shake hands again either given how many people on here get pee and feces on their hands every time they use the bathroom.

I had no idea so many people couldn't use the bathroom and wipe without getting human waste on themselves that they need to scrub off.

I would completely make a mental note of that if I knew you. I always make a note of kids who come over and don't wash their hands after using the bathroom, too. So gross.

I mean, I wouldn't hide this, I would totally have this same conversation in person if we were friends, but absent it coming up, you wouldn't know. As I said, I always wash my hands outside the home, and at home if we have company. Because the whole point of washing is to stop the spread of germs. So, yeah, I'm sure plenty of your friends don't wash their hands after peeing in the privacy of their own home and you have no idea.
