The fact that you want me to specify "not me" is exactly what I mean. Minorities don't get that benefit sweetie. Welcome to the club. |
Yep! The irony of why the name is needed is the funny part. If you don't want to be a "K' then stop acting like one. The truth hurts. |
I wondered what happened to that thread. I thought it was a good and interesting one too. I’ve met people like that before in the topic you made and it annoys me that people don’t see their own dismissive biases. |
I almost spit out my wine laughing so hard! Seriously, that is soooo 10 years go. It has been the DC fight club for at least a decade. |
You're embarrassing yourself Jeff. Half the posts on the site wouldn't meet that litmus. You'd have to block a lot more tha. The "K-word" if elevating the discourse is really what that was about. |
I have to be honest. I see that ALL the time, especially in DC and Arl. They act like black people are some sort of experiment instead of just getting to know them and they stereotype quite often. |
I have blocked a lot more words than that. It was just unbelievable how overused the k-word was here. People started reporting when it was posted and I was buried in reports. Plus, as other posters have said, if a term that stereotyped just about anyone other than white women were used, all kinds of hell would be raised. |
You redeemed yourself a bit with this self-deprecation. At first I was like, you think the overuse of the K-word is why DCUM is a mockery on the internet, particularly among other local blogs and forums? Then I saw your follow-up and was like, nah, you get this site is a joke. An oddly compelling joke, which keeps us coming back despite our best interests. Anyway, since there's been much speculation about what I actually said in my original post of "A dilemma facing 'woke' DC parents" (thank goodness for Googie caching, anyone can find the original thread). Here's what I posted:

I don’t understand what’s wrong with this post. I’ve seen WAY worse things on here. Especially the Real Estate and the Schools forums where people openly will say racist things towards POC such as they’re all poor and undereducated and no one flinches an inch. So so many threads about people feeling threatened about POC moving into their neighborhood or school system. |
I delete the types of posts that you describe all the time. But, I have to see them to delete them. When they are reported, I remove them. Instead of just scrolling past them next time, please take a second to hit the report button. |
Oooooh! Careful! I said something similar and he blocked me (and deleted my post.) |
Jeff used to let us roast and joke more. I made a reply about 5G that wasn’t even directed at anyone and it was deleted. |
Becky would be Gen X, too. It comes from the intro to Sir Mixalot's song about big butts. Omygod Becky, look at her butt! |

That was indeed the most K-word tweet ever.
This site indeed was being overrun by posters being called out for being K-words. Glad that clap-back is silenced (for the sake of deeper discourse). Conflating the behaviors of a mentally ill black homeless person (btw, I live in DC and see a few caucasian crazy homeless ppl out there too) with the character of all black people is not a conclusion I would expect any child to draw. Sorry to hear a grown black woman is not viewing black people she sees who are struggling with addiction or mental illness or other life traumas as people who are struggling but instead feeling embarrassed by what white children will think (of her?). My child grew up in DC and visited the homes of more racially and economically diverse peers than my own suburban NOVA childhood afforded me. I am pleased that my child will not feel intimated by wealthy people the way I am. |
You have to be funny. I've been doing this for nearly 15 years and have become grumpy about lame humor. I have no idea what post you are describing. Could you refresh my memory? |
