I actually never saw a post in which you identified yourself that way but now you have clarified exactly which poster you are and things make a lot more sense. Your suggestion that any white children raised in DC would only be exposed to black drug users and black gang members was so far from reality that I have trouble believe that you know anything about DC. For the record, my sons were born in and have lived their entire lives in DC. From birth they were exposed to the Harvard-educated black woman that lives on one side of us and the Emmy-winning television producer -- also a black woman -- who lives on the other side. Both have grown up around black people of all socio-economic levels and understand better than you, apparently, that the black community is not monolithic and that the popular negative stereotypes are far from accurate. I am really sorry that you have such a low opinion of our own race. You are missing so much. |
It is light years away from the offensiveness of the n-word. BUT... its not internet teasing. I see it and hear it IRL. |
Her post said that "woke white people" raising children in the city were creating racists because their children would only see black people who were drug users and gang members and, therefore, develop racist attitudes about them. |
We found the actual K word, everyone! |
Boo freakin hoo. White people fall apart at the slightest hint of not being in a position of power. It's ridiculous. |
He blocked me when I used it. I get that it’s his site and he can make whatever ridiculous and arbitrary rules he wants, but it’s a very silly line in the sand. Like, this is what you’re going to block people over? Really?
|
If you are disappointed that I don't view all black people in DC as drug users and gang members, you are really going to hate me for the other things I believe,. |
I hear you, but I recently watched this little video going around FB of a woman training to become a k-word. Shortly into it, I realized that except for the haircut, I may actually be a k-word. Though you make a fair point. |
I'm not talking about whatever her post was, I'm talking about your censorship of something so stupid and comparatively innocuous to things you choose to let stand. But anything to p rd protect the honor of white womanhood, amirite? |
Few, if any, of the white woman on this site need me to protect their honor. I blocked the K-word because it was played out beyond belief and the constant use of it made this look like the lamest site on the Internet. Do you think I want to be the owner of a site on which the users have just caught up with 2018 and think they are the coolest kids in school? |
You're censoring things because they aren't "cool" enough? Really? |
And you thinking all white women are in a position of power is ridiculous. |
White woman here who saw a page or two of that thread (not sure how long it got or if it devolved, as might be likely). I don't think the OP said "all black people." You are painting it more extreme than I remember it. It had the potential for an interesting discussion, because in the nuance (not in absolute proclamations) there's some truth. |

DCUM earned a reputation for having intelligent, educated, and witty posters. Then it devolved to repeating the same name over and over again in response to nearly every post. Call it "censorship" or call it nostalgia. |
