Episode 1 was pretty bad. Nothing was that compelling to stick around for more episodes in my opinion.

I guess maybe South Asian folks may identify with some of the family dynamics? Everyone was sort of boring, except for all the guys who are clearly in the closet.

Yes. Only South Asian people will like shows about Indian people. You hit the nail on the head.

The show is clearly a ploy by Bravo to expand their demographic base. Which I'm totally fine with, but these people and their storylines are boring AF.

I don't think this is true. I'm white and I watch Shahs and Texicanas and now Family Karma, and all of the Housewives except Jersey. It's more about the formulaic structure of the show than the ethnicity of the cast - Bravo has trained us to watch all of these structured semi-reality shows and at this point I find them soothing.

I will say that there's a chance FK never gets as good/juicy as the others because the parents are so closely involved - I think the participants are on better behavior because their parents will be in the confessional when they get asked about arguments and fights. That's why the parents' disagreements are more entertaining thus far - they have no one chastising them for talking shit.

I’m South Indian American. This show is so far removed from my culture. We’re all nerds!

I'm sorry I resurrected a very old thread, but I'm praying to the DCUM gods that someone out there is watching with me this season. I need to discuss.

I just binged the series and really love the show. I would not have watched if not for lack of content elsewhere and really was pleasantly surprised. I like learning about the culture and customs and love the sense of community. I think Anisha makes the show.

I’m here for you.

Richa’s mom is the worst, right?

Bali is gorj. I am surprised her family and community are so accepting of O’Malley. Also - she said she left that marriage with nothing. why wouldn’t her first divorce settlement translate to the US??

I like Bali's commentary. She's hilarious. Love Anisha. I'm love her style/wardrobe. I wish they would give her a separate show on how to look fabulous.

This was mentioned earlier in the thread for last season - but isn't it obvious that Vishal is gay?? This is why he and Richa have not had sex. This is why he won't commit to an actual wedding date. The openly gay guy (Dillon) outed him.

Why are others not discussing this?? Vishal will never marry Richa.

I have to say too - that I absolutely love Monica. She is just so fun to watch. I love her positive energy.

Anisha had a glow up after season 1. I am following her on Instagram now too. Monica is definitely confident in herself but can be prissy, I think. I hope she has found her match with Rishi. It sounded to me like Vishal and Richa had sex at her apartment but not in their parents homes? I also wonder if Richa is gay and does not really want to get married. Seven years together seems like an in-reality in the community.

It's so funny that you say that. I actually had the same thought as well - that Richa is gay and her culture does not let her openly be out. Interestingly, she met Vishal (who I completely believe is gay) through Amrit. My heart is pouring out to him while he is "outing" himself to his family on TV. I thought what his father said - that there isn't even a word for gay - in their community.

Is there anyone out there who can verify this?

Amrit coming out to his grandmother was brutal to watch. There were tears shed in our home. I'm so glad Nicholas wasn't there to witness it in person.

Amrit is such a good guy and has his life/career together. What the hell is he doing on this show?!? LOL

Did you see that Nicholas was punched by someone after the last episode’s viewing party (engagement)? Awful.

I like the show! Fun, fluffy entertainment and characters that make you gossip about them with friends

Horrible about Nicholas. He seems like such a nice guy, and clearly he and Amrit have been through a lot together.

I'm still on the fence with Vishal and Richa. You don't have sex at one point in a relationship and then just stop. You sneak around, yes. But I agree with other posters that Vishal is probably gay and couldn't come out to his parents, especially his mother. She seems more overbearing than Richa's mother.
