Oh, I forgot one part. pP on plane who killed 6 people never knows it, feels empowered to continue life as usual, and comes to brag about it and chastise others in an utter display of callous ignorance. |

This needs to be explained more to “common” folk. |

Let me guess. You’re letting your kids interact in person with friends. |
|
I am the only one who thinks this is a disastrous over-reaction prompted by the media.
Read the following articles and weep: https://www.amgreatness.com/2020/03/19/dangerous-curves/ https://www.statnews.com/2020/03/17/a-fiasco-in-the-making-as-the-coronavirus-pandemic-takes-hold-we-are-making-decisions-without-reliable-data/ |

+1 Those of you saying these ridiculous statistics like a 2% death rate - do you realize that is only from established cases? Correct? And there are probably hundreds of thousands if not millions of people whose symptoms were so mild they went undetected. Do you understand how that works? Someone posted an analogy the other day. It’s like testing death rates of people diagnosed with lung cancer and then saying “100% of people will die from lung cancer!” |

Says the person who does not understand statistics. |

The first article only basically says we are not testing enough to know accurate numbers. I didn't read the second one. Wake up, PP. No use sticking your head in the sand. I know it's scary and denial is more comfortable right now. It's also a lot more dangerous. Here's Italy today: Italy reports 6,557 new cases of coronavirus and 793 new deaths, raising total to 53,578 cases and 4,825 dead |

That's in a developed, advanced country that can provide resources for everyone. We are now a shthole nation with an administration that won't even order makes or ventilators. It will be higher here when not everyone can be treated, and that's not even consideeing what happens to everyone else when the healthcare system collapses. Heart attacks and car accidents aren't going to stop just because of covid. |

let me put that into perspective. At a typical high school, 40 kids die in a 2% death rate. So, um... |

Omg if 2 or even 1 percent of flights in the US crashed, planes wound not fly anymore. That would be over 4K airplane crashes each day (of those landing and/or taking off in the US). |
| It’s not 2% of the population... *bangs head against wall* |
|
So let's get some perspective here. Let's take Italy with its 60,000 million population. They now have 4,825 dead. That's .01% of the population. Tragic yes, but it doesn't look as scary as saying 53,500 diagnosed and 4,825 dead.
In other words, even as it rages in Italy, only 54K of the entire population (rounded up) is infected out 60 MILLION people. |

Ok it's 2% of 40-70% of the population. Let's call it 50% of the population that will get infected. That's 115,000,000 people. Thus 1,500,000 dead of the disease and 20,000,000 hospitalized, displacing all the other critical patients, who also die at a higher rate. It's on the order of magnitude of 2,000,000 deaths at a minimum if we don't slow it down. |

Sure. They are now on lockdown. Lockdown works. |
