How about you make the decisions for your own family, and let other people weigh the risks for their family as they see fit.

Not the poster you are responding to. Your decisions affect other people. Your decisions can kill and harm people outside your family. Your decisions are not just about you and your family.

Most of us are somewhere in between sterile Bubble Boy conditions and Spring Break Beach Partier.

We aren't flying or attending movies, going out to eat at restaurants or riding mass transportation. We are going to our neighborhood retail and grocery stores, interacting with familiar faces, avoiding big crowds and avoiding travel.

You are free to imprison yourselves if you want to. Most of us are choosing a middle ground. It's simply not reasonable to expect people to stay locked up in their homes until a vaccine is available. Some of us will get this virus and MOST of us will not get that sick from it. Thank goodness!

The man who first said 80% of cases will be mild said in a recent interview "MILD" was the WRONG term. His "mild" includes people who become quite ill-worse than flu, but just aren't in imminent risk of death. Mild can include those who suffer lung damage.

My neighbor’s teenaged son has been hanging out with his usual pack of boys the last two days; they either hang on the neighbors’ porch or at a nearby park. I guess that’s better than being together indoors, but it’s annoying to see.

The 10 person maximum is intended so that some necessary functions can continue— mail rooms and food kitchens and the like. Don’t use this loophole as an excuse to go about business as usual.

She came bia Uber? You know nothing about the driver or how many other were in the car before her. It's not just about hand washing. It's about breathing the air.

Given the CDC says this is fine, OP appears to be a butt hurt mom of an unpopular child.

Pick a camp, leave the other camp alone.

AMEN!!!

This is my first post in this thread, but PP you are a queen B mean girl type. I hope you're not raising a teen like you. "Butt hurt mom of an unpopular kid?" Seriously? What are you, 13? If she does have an unpopular kid, parents should be telling their kids to reach out to that person's kid right now. This is a time to show compassion for those kids who don't have the social skills or social capital to have much in the way of social interactions.

My college kid is doing the same thing. While my kids are home, they know people returning from Florida who are posting how they shouldn’t have to quarantine because they “feel fine”... I wish we were under some mandatory order here to protect us from the stupid people!

There are already outbreaks from the spring break revelers who have brought the virus back to their campus. KU and U-Tampa were the first. More will come. The curve in the US is far worse than Italy. People are really not understanding how bad this can get.

JFC, you all just don't get it. YES, YOU ARE WRONG. No friends over, no play dates. Do you not see what is happening in Italy?

Maybe you shouldn’t be so judgmental. My entire family has been social distancing for almost two weeks and now that it appears that we are going to be social distancing and not working or be in school probably until the summer yes these last few nice days my children were allowed to take a walk with a friend or two outside and not allowed in anyone’s homes. Neither of them are ill and they’ve washed their hands and they have not gone in each other’s homes and they keep distance when with each other. For us that is OK considering that it now looks like this is going to be going on for months and months.

I will add none of them are posting on social media about it so I know this is not about us but still everyone is trying to do their best.

^Actually, that’s the problem. Lots of people aren’t trying at all! You may be trying, and what your kids did may be totally fine (as long as they remained six feet from others), but is is frustrating for many to know they have strictly followed social distancing practices and forced their complaining kids to do the same, and then to see photos of groups of classmates on IG or kids on beaches in FL. We all have a social responsibility here; this isn’t a case where bad decisions effect only the people making them, those bad decisions can have far-reaching and catastrophic effects.

For the 100th time....people can be asymptomatic and still be transmitting. It is airborne for a period of time so you can give it to friends during a walk. The sad thing is we are so entitled about our freedoms it will be impossible to contain it the way China did. If you could get arrested for socializing, you would think twice. Singapore is quite draconian about things and they contained it quickly.

People are so smug talking baout their family choices not comprehending YOUR choices affect the community.
