Is it really trolling or the direction that ECNL is heading? https://www.topdrawersoccer.com/club-soccer-articles/ecnl-launches-new-boys-conference_aid47739 |
| Perhaps a better communication from clubs to families about what this conference is and where it goes (?) |
|
Mid atlantic conference will be rounded off with 12 clubs
ECNL regional League is the 2nd tier for ECNL |
|
ECNL boys is NOT ECNL girls.
Don't intermix the 2 |
Lol |
So Richmond United is imploding now? |
|
SOCAL forum is reporting that the following rumor may have legs..
"San Jose Quakes have decided to dissolve their girls DA program because of finances despite being a pay to play model." |
Who cares about dilution? It is better to have more options for everyone. It is better to throw everything at the wall and see what sticks. The mission of DA is not to have one super team per area. It is to develop players. The super team model leaves a lot of individual out. You know how it works. They are only taking 18-19 players. Would you really want only one DA or ECNL team for this area? Make one team out of the following clubs -Loudoun, Arlington, BSC, FCV, SYA and VDA(add who ever you want). Now tell me some talented players with potent are not left out. DA/ECNL should not start till u15. Spend the resources on having 4 team per age group broken down by birth month for u12 and below. So at u9 one team is January-March, the next is April-June, etc. This would increase the talent pool at u15 by 3 times. There are just as many potential soccer players in the Oct-Dec birth months as there are in the Jan-March birth months but some how the Oct-Dec group only represents maybe 10% of the top team players. The Jan-March group represents close to 75%. |
And the boys side will be beta testing this approach. But ECNL is Regionalizing their NPL leagues all across the country. Like it or not, this is the direction they are heading towards. US Club Soccer is the parent organization of both leagues and they will likely find it in their best interest to capitalize on the ECNL brand, roll in NPL clubs and create smaller regionalized divisions witht he best teams per division earning their way into the national showcase events and playoffs. They do have to go NPL by NPL to get buy in from the member clubs and leagues but this is the ultimate goal. It comes with some pros and cons. Obviously the league will be watered down, which is why they are more than happy to give PDA, Michigan and Real Colorado two teams per division, they simply don't care. The greatest PRO is the potential for a less travel intensive league with the potential for real national level Promotion/Relegation. But, in a very short time the proposed VA ECNL Conference is likely going to be very, very real. |
| No natter if u use the above idea or something else...soccer for young teens needs to be more inclusive not less. Cheaper, less travel, more players. No sense is limiting the pool so young. Makes no sense. |
Or just do ODP. |
This is where people are of two minds. I happen to think it is a good approach for the reasons you say, however, there are people who have bought into the exclusivity model that ECNL and DA provide. Image wise, while ECNL will end up the largest league in the nation, it will certainly take a hit on its exclusivity. For those who believe in promotion relegation your time is nearly upon you. So, what this will mean for those kids who do wish to showcase they will have to be very selective about the particular team they join in hopes that they win their way into the larger quality showcases. |
But it's getting there. A lot of good clubs denied DA are in it. |
| In fact, some boys' Ecnl clubs made the top 100, when several boys' DAs didn't. |
Well, don't get to carries away with being a top 100 team or club when at U18/19 there are only 98 DA teams, at U16/17 there are only 108. |
