Gotcha. The goals are the same inasfar as both being driven by revenue. The implementation is just different due to other factors. In either case, development of players is not the driver, although both systems ultimately do create it, even if it may not be the most efficient process. The DA has unwittingly fallen into this trap, and is being outmaneuvered by ECNL. |
They will either continue to call the players up or tell them they need to move to a DA to stay in the system. Eventually, US Soccer will simply stop calling up ECNL players and they will let them know why they are no longer being called up. The players will then have to decide if playing in a Part-time league is worth the college scholarship that a NT Training camp can provide is worth it. |

USSF may have built the boys DA. However, they did not build the Girls DA.
In fact, USSF did absolutely nothing for the girl’s game. The clubs that built ECNL allowed for the idea of the Girls DA to come about. The USSF came in and stole all the best ECNL clubs (many have returned) and rebranded ECNL to DA and said “poof”…now pay up. USSF got into the girls game for the money. It’s a lie to say they are not profiting. Truth: IT IS EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE FOR A CLUB TO RUN A DA PROGRAM. USSF PAYS NOTHING. THE CLUBS CARRIES THE COST! Now, ask yourself. Why would clubs give up all power and money to USSF? What are they getting in return? Truth: USSF does not run the everyday training environment of the club. The clubs run everything. 100 percent of the burden of EVERTHING is on the club. USSF benefits…clubs do not. National team call ups? Give me break. They were happening way before the GDA and before the ECNL. |

Of course the goal is revenue. Always follow the money. But we have to agree to disagree. There is no way that some excellent trainer and club here can go out searching for, find and then really develop a female stud and then cash in in any significant way. That is not where the money is. They can not develop and sell a player.
I don't see how there would so much total mediocrity in these so called "top" leagues if they could cash in on the talent of these players rather then getting paid by these players. You need to get on you tube and watch some of this soccer 8n these leagues. The level if play is not going to impress you. |
If there wasn't enough evidence that the DA is really about money and control, this confirms it. They are willing to sacrifice the quality of the NTC pools by selecting only from their ranks. I don't think anyone can claim that the DA is about development with this sort of nonsense going on. |
No one cares. You are talking about 20 kids nationally. Is that all the DA people have...the carrot of a callup? 99.9 percent of the players know by U15 that they are not on that path. |
They were DA all along. Then the ECNL said they had to choose. So they said then give us 2 teams. ECNL no, so they chose DA. Then ECNL came back and said fine. If you insist |
| In other words, they were one of the club's with both ECNL and DA teams. |
Year one yes. Then year two ECNL said all in or out, Real Colorado said give us two teams and we are in. ECNL said no, Real Colorado said DA it is we relinquish our ECNL team. Parents on the ECNL team likely freaked out, left in droves. ECNL came back this year and said you can have two teams. Money......Money.....Money |
|
No.....
ECNL gave them an ultimatum last year. Real Colorado had 1 DA and 1 ECNL team. They were forced to choose and they went DA. A year later, the are back. And for your information, Real Colorado has the talent, like PDA, Hawks, Stars, etc to field two quality teams. |
| $$$$$ |
| To the point above, DA programs need to pay some of the costs incurred in order to drive down what the families pay. Some clubs do this more efficiently than others and some clubs wholly believe in the DA mission and idea so they just deal with the financial ramifications. BUT, for some clubs eyeing their finances, the writing is on the wall to leave. Running a DA program does NOT generate money for the club (unless they charge families enough to cover all the costs). |
It is still a B team playing in a "Elite" league. Here is your ECNL Conference in 2 years. Loudoun McLean BRYC VDA CYA PWSI VSA VYS Strikers Kickers Tidewater Villareal The current ECNL Mid Atlantic is 11 teams an aligned VA Conference would be 12 teams. The bright side is travel will be reduced. The downside is, pick your team appropriately because only the top teams will get to the good national events. |
Nice trolling. |
