| The non-crappy Main Street part of Lewiston isn’t exactly a short walk from Bates either. It’s about a mile. Colby to Waterville is about 1.5. |
| People who go to Colby love Colby. DH is a an alum and loved it. Neither DC felt the same for different reasons. It's small and isolated but a great education in a beautiful place with lots of things to do outdoors, especially if you like skiing and hiking. |
They do love it fanatically, likely why their alumni network seems to be so strong. |

My vote would be:
Bowdoin Bates Colby |
Great insights. |

A good friend of mine went there in the 90s.
I went to another school in Maine. When I would visit, there was a crunchy vibe (although he didn't fit this decription). He said students had a lot of freedom of expression. There were some children for famous people who were not pretentious. The people on the athletic teams were serious, but not your "80's movie jocks". He had a friend who was in a beauty pagaent as an experiment who was also a varsity athlete. She did very well in it, and an article was written about her. She said something like being in shape for her is more about making it up and down the court than how you look in a bikini. When he was there, part of orientation was a outdoor adventure trip. If you realllly love camping and outdoor activities (in the cold) it is great place. He would go to Portland sometimes to go to bars, etc., and received the education he needed to be successful in his career (without grad school). |
| Is it colder in Colby than at Bates or Bowdoin? |
| Some days. |
Maybe a few degrees on average. But the difference between 11 and 15 degrees isn’t particularly meaningful. If cold is a worry look elsewhere. |
| The question was about playing lacrosse. Colby has the best Women's Lacrosse Team, best Athletic Facility and Coaches. Looking for a College to play a sport at Colby is hard to beat facilities are second to none. Bowdoin Campus is right out of 1970 and Bates is worse. Every Colby team is getting better because the facilities attract the best athletes. |

The question was posed nearly three years ago. |
| The athletic center would put most D1 facilities to shame. It’s a great school. |
I know all three places and here’s the town/location and associated student experience quality, in order of magnitude: Bowdoin Bates Colby |
I don’t think you understand what a feeder school is - the high schools feed into Colby, not vice versa. |
As a recruiter for a firm that recruits from all three, I can assure you we consider them all equal, but we have noticed that the Colby kids have better communication skills than the others. Financial Services sector. |
