APS: Think the "no move" campaign is going to work?

But there are many more schools than those three - and many of them support the moves.

If you support, better make that known on Engage and to the School Board.

That slide presentation makes it look like a done deal. There is no decent alternative to moving option schools. The school board has to know that the backlash if they decided to just make neighborhood boundary moves would be even more intense than what they’re facing now.

I'm all for more seats at ATS.

from the presentation:
About 1,800 responses (total) to two bilingual Community Questionnaires
? In Questionnaire #2, 65% state APS Engage webpage as a top source of information in process
? Responses show more support for recommended proposal than for alternate scenario
? Includes paper copies

I still agree- those of us who support should make it known. The anti-move voices may be shrill, but the majority of the community supports the moves and understands the need for the moves.

I'm the op. When it dies, or gets to 18 pages for, say, 24 hours, I"ll re-up it to take your bet. I was surprised it got this far so fast.

I've been a big CJ fan for a long time.

While inconvenient for me, I support the move! Like a pp above, I too support more seats at ATS. Sh!t, I support an entire new school built on the ATS program.

This might be the best thing I've seen on dcum in awhile. Please bring haikus to the SB meetings!

+1

Bravo/a!

Thank you, thank you. Was off this thread for a while due to the early release. My talents in my current job are wasted!

At ATS (like, the location)? Or for ATS, meaning wherever they fit?

The location doesn't matter if the program can grow, given how many people apply.

I’m not a racist.
If Immersion moves central -
¡Que viva la Key!

There is nothing wrong with Ashlawn other than that people in the McKinley walk zone can’t walk there.

While technically not walk zone, plenty of them walk to Dominion Hills pool and the pool’s parking lot connects to Ashlawn’s driveway.

Yeah. I find it amusing when I hear McKinley families who walk to the DH pool complain about the horror of going to Ashlawn because of losing proximity. Ashlawn is literally adjacent to the pool/a few steps further, if you can trot the family to the pool in the summer, no reason you cant get to Ashlawn during the school year.

Why do both of you want more seats at ATS?

It has a huge waitlist, why shouldn’t it be a 700 student school and give more kids a chance to get in?
