Misogyny often isn't about women

Now walk into a room and tell a group of ethnic minorities that racism "isn't about them."

Definitely do this and report back, OP!

Haha, minorities are scary, angry, and incapable of discussing controversial opinions. Nice.

No. Minorities don’t take this BS.

Imagine this article was about a bunch of white boys at a private school making incredibly perverse, racist jokes.

This. And the jokes aren’t generic, but specifically about boys of other ethnicities that they play sports with, attend school with, or see at parties.

Women can absolutely weigh in on what acceptable masculinity looks like. As we can see from the consequences of the shitty forms of masculinity, women are very much affected by it.

This is so true.
Misogyny is so much more socially accepted than racism. If a black man was attacked by a white man in front of my office building today, the whole city would riot. If a woman was raped, people would question whether or not it really even happened.

Not if the white man was a cop.

Oh yeah? How many times have you heard about the cop who raped a woman or beat his wife? You think that’s because it didn’t happen?

OK, so by the same logic men get to say what acceptable femininity looks like, because men are very much affected by the shitty forms of femininity that are prevalent in society today.

Can we get a male author to tell girls how to be feminine next?

What are your particular complaints? Because I'm a man and don't see any particular behaviors criticized by the author that I'd regard as desirable or even acceptable in a man.

Leaving aside the fact that I think the author is inventing most of those behaviors, it is not the place of any woman to tell boys and men how to be masculine.

Oh please. Like your momma didn’t try to regulate your behavior? Sure.

women theorizing about men. The author of the article is a woman who has no experience as a man and knows nothing about a boy or mans experience or truth. Therefore her opinion is irrelevant.

It all traces back to here. Women don’t raise women generally without some men whom they love - fathers, brothers, uncles, husbands, etc...

Women have no community apart from men. Really, think about that.

The patriarchy is alive and well dishing up that women can’t drive as well as men, can’t do math as well as men, honestly can’t do whatever as well as men.

Look around at any C level suite and show me a woman leading outside of HR or Marketing. We’re 50% of the population. All shades of color. Massively under represented. We don’t suck at our jobs. 50%. Massive sexism. It’s just what it is.

Men think women are intellectually inferior. Fact.

And your little boys you are raising hear this day in and day out. I’m better than a female. To state misogyny isn’t about women and girls and females is a ridiculous argument.

Men think the other sex is a toy to play with, much like a truck. Women are human beings with aspirations.

This article is ridiculous. How about stop the dad’s from coercing women into being hot SAHWs, screwing everything they can find, bragging about it and wondering why poor Larla repeats the pattern?

Matt Lauer, Weinstein, plenty of others... their kingdom has come uppance.

”When I asked you to build me a wall, I was hoping that instead of just dumping the bricks in a pile, you might have found time to cement them together, you know, one on top of the other, in the traditional fashion.”

Why do you think so many men treat women as toys? Anything in their childhood that needs to change?

You repeat what you were modeled. Whether male or female. What needs to change - less 1950s sexism amongst those with money.

Especially the entire, we’re so rich, that’s why my wife no longer works anymore BS. It’s Trixie’s job to look hot role model while u stick it elsewhere and everyone knows. Let’s start there.

Having money is funny. Women put up with a lot of BS. Start here. Treat your wife as an equal. Maybe u can be the pool boy. I mean wouldn’t you want that power? You should also get a ball lift for equality sake. High and tight.

yep. Finally there's some comeuppance (as pp said). I know men can compartmentalize but what they don't realize is that their bad behavior is affecting their next generation.

How about the men respecting the women in their lives with action and in words. You know, don't be like Lauer, Weinstein (and even some of your work colleagues/family members closer to home).

You all have daughters/mothers/nieces who will be affected by what you do as a man whether you think it has affected them or not.

In other news, the sky is blue and the grass is green.

It doesn't matter where they go to school. The boys in our co ed middle schools and high schools are just as bad and have more access to girls and the "conquest" is a daily thing, but they often aren't getting the counter message from adults at school about how to behave that boys in all boys schools do get.

I don’t believe you.

I have worked in both environments and the lack of daily contact with strong capable girls/women at all boys schools is way more toxic.

+1. I went to a college that had a pretty good mix of students coming out of both private schools and public schools. The guys from the all-boys private schools treated girls the worst. The main exception I knew of was a guy who had like 5 sisters.
