Paranoia? Our national security agencies have confirmed that they interfered in the election. Cambridge Analytica, anyone? Just shut up with paranoia. It just makes you sound like a bot. . |
The Obama administration may have been naive but they did learn over time to take the Russian threat seriously. |
They interfere with every election and have been doing it since the Bolsheviks. Labor unions weree always infiltrated with Soviets. |
I’m the PP who said you are an argument for bringing back civics. I have a degree in Pol Sci too since you mention it. You don’t understand government but I’ll let you off the hook because I’m assuming you might be 19. Either you’re interning with the Heritage Foundation , or you’ll learn with time. |
The term "high crime" refers to the position of the person doing the crime, not to the type of crime. That said, "bribery" is specified in the Constitution as an impeachable offense. Both by the modern US legal definition and by the definition of the term "bribery" as the authors of the Constitution understood it, the current president and vice president appear to have committed the offense. Seriously, of perjury about a blowjob is impeachable, how is this not impeachable? What would constitute an impeachable offense in your mind? |

According to the media recently, Clinton was impeached for an extramarital affair. That's mildly amusing because it glosses over some key facts. Clinton was impeached for lying. So far, Trump admits to this behavior. Second, Clinton had an affair with an intern, a subordinate, not some random woman. Don't sleep with the interns at your company. It's not a dating pool. |
It is textbook bribery, which includes the "solicitation" or the ask. It need not be executed in order for it to be a crime. |
I wish we had your analysis when the Republicans were impeaching Clinton for getting a blowjob and lying about it. Frankly, I think this may be the worst set of circumstances we seen it our lifetimes. |
Just turned 50 but not sure how that's relevant? I've read the Constitution, studied the Constitution, read all the Federalist papers, studied the history and interpretation. I'm sure you have as well. If you have, assuming you don't live in a bubble, then you would know there are other views here that are not exactly obscure. |
Trolling for a divisive thread? Seems so. |
Good question. Treason. True bribery where the president is personally enriched (Illinois governor selling Senate seats). Nixon level obstruction. Not sleazy incompetence like this. |
I have a hard time with the logic. Somethings bothering me about the conclusion that they won’t convict therefore it must not be a crime. Could there be other reasons why they wouldn’t convict? |
You think his obstruction is not Nixon level? You think cash is the only thing of value? -np |
1) Bribery can be for political gain, and 2) trump has been using the presidency as a cash cow to enrich himself and his kids anyway. |
