What age is too old for the matching Xmas pj photo?

So corny.

11 is too old for the photos.

Everyone of any age can wear the pjs at any time, just don't share photos of them.

I don’t get why it would necessarily be weird. Don’t a lot of schools have pajama days even for older kids? It’s not like inherently embarrassing depending on the style of the PJs.

My oldest will be 12 this year. We have transitioned to soft T-shirt’s and fleece pants in a Christmas print. They still look presentable in the pictures, but they can also go outside to try out a gift or something.

I don’t do a matching Christmas pj Christmas card, in part because they don’t get the pj’s until after the card is made, but I will do things like snap a picture of them opening a present from Grandma and send it to Grandma.

Not past elementary school.

When adults do this, I always think they’re 18 months away from divorce.

To answer your question, whenever you feel like it.

If you are just taking a photo for your own personal family photo album, whatever.

But people only take photos now to share them online or on a Christmas card. So yeah, after 11 or so unless the child gives explicit approval.

Yeah but the older kids don’t participate or just wear pajama pants and a t shirt.

two parents and an 11 year old in matching family pajamas sounds like an entry for Awkward Family Photos.

The problem is that there is an age bracket where putting on matching pajamas is embarrassing. Whether it is or isn’t the debate. Most kids will find it embarrassing, and it’s difficult time for kids to be different.

Then there is the taking a picture and sending cards to friends and family. Social media is even worse. A lot of times it’s done without a kid’s informed consent.

Kids can give consent but for some there might be an urge to please their parents that is hard to overcome.

This is all for the parents’ benefit. I mean if the kid is like, “let’s buy matching pajamas and make Christmas cards!” That’s a different story.

All of these points may be silly to some, but for others it makes all this weird. My personal opinion is do what you feel comfortable with but err on the side of not posting all these embarrassing photos of your kid on the internet for everyone to see for the rest of time. My 11yo just found a pic of her friend from 6 years ago in the bath tub with his little sister on his mom’s Facebook. It’s hella embarrassing. Cute at the time. Embarrassing now. Poor kid.

What is so embarrassing or scandalous about a photo in Christmas pajamas. I mean we’re talking flannels or t-shirt and pants sets, right? I’ve never seen Christmas pj photos that showed any more than a regular outfit would.

I think you can transition to ugly xmas sweaters. It's more fun.
