Best party favor/goody bag your 5/6 year old ever received?

Balloons are beautiful and popular and I love them, but got in trouble recently because I didn't realize how bad they are for the environment. Helium shortage + plastic pollution. So skip balloons The sturdy blow-up punch balls at least avoid the helium issue, if not the plastic, and look cool hung like decorations.

Best party favors are the ones with a single item and no bag. My kids have loved:

Crayons (one party had the 64 color boxes, which got audible gasps from the kindergartners or first graders, can't remember which year)
Fancy gel pens
Matchbox cars
Wooden things to paint (one had boxes, one had ornaments)
Kleen kanteen small metal water bottles (these are expensive, but the party was small. Still in use 5 years later! Would not use the plastic ones.)
Soccer balls (real ones, not blow-up, but smaller sized. I imagine these were expensive, but awesome)
Deck of playing cards
Invisible ink or Mad Libs books

This is either not true or the kids were gasping at something else and you mistook it for gasping at crayons or the party was in a location where there are no crayons or the kids were being sarcastic.

For my son, the last party we gave cups that were Star Wars themed, a Snack Size Cheese It pack and a Couple pieces of candy. For my daughter, we gave something similar, a cup with a lemonade inside, few pieces of candy and some hair ties. Everything was recyclable and usable..(well, with the exception of the Cheese It and Candy wrappers....).

I can't tell you how many parents came up to me and thanked me!!

What kind of cups?

Not PP but a party themed thermos would be a great idea.

Disagree. First, it could hurt the feelings of other kids who don't have the thermos when many people do. Second, I spend money on good thermos' that don't leak, keep things hot/cold. I'm guessing a favor would be outside that price range so this would not be of use to us.

Some sort of fun craft activity that results in a favor.

Bath bombs or Japanese erasers for girls.

A small lego kit. $7 right now at Target.

People, this is obviously a child-free godmother who wants to spoil her godchild. She said cost is not an issue. Give her some GOOD suggestions, not bags of crap.

Op, LEGO kits would be a big hit!

Seriously? Who gives a $29 goody bag gift? Self promotion much?

Our neighbor's son's birthday party theme was batman and all the kids got a batman book (5-year-old birthday party). Our daughter loved the book so we did the same at her 5th birthday. Hers was a pool party so all the kids got a fun, age appropriate shark book (a dr. seuss book) and it was very well received.

Any type of food, except clementines. Some parents like to draw cute faces on them but kids don’t want these as a party favor. Anything else is fine and it’s consumable. Cookies, candy, chips. It doesn’t have to be a lot.

I’ll go against the crowd and say stay away from books. You are getting to the age where reading levels and interests vary a lot. Also, we were often given books we already had.

Love the bandaid idea.

Forgot to add, both my son and daughter and their friends go nuts over gummy worms and bears. They wanted to exchange presents with a few friends and they insisted on buying these. I was worried but sure enough, it’s also what they got in return and they were thrilled. They love all varieties.

Packs of Big League Chew
Anything edible: decorated rice krispie treat, chocolate covered pretzel rods etc. My kids always liked to ask for the items in their lunch box the next day or two.

We got a camelback kids water bottle as the one favor from a small birthday party last year, my kid loved it and we used it for quite a long time. I thought thatwas a really good idea, but maybe not possible if you are expecting 25 kids...

We once got 7” basketballs from a sports party for six year olds. It remains the best we ever got.
