Einstein also has a stronger dance and theatre program due to VAPA.

Blair mom here. Blair has talented kids, but theatre is weak. Don't know about dance.

Another Blair parent..chorus is also weak.

How do you tell a theater program is weak vs. strong in MCPS?

One way is to attend the plays and musicals and see the level of engagement of the students and the community. We've been attending Einstein's for a few years, and they've been really impressive all around.

Einstein was invited to perform at a exclusive international theatre festival in Scotland a few years back. Also there Hairspray was extraordinary. Raw talent is nothing without a good teacher.

Its ok, its downcountry. If the upcountry kept their kids upcountry in their fancy schools with their overpriced houses we wouldn't have $3K. But, its ok, its downcountry kids and they don't deserve more.

Why are the responses about arts programs? Are there academic differences? Administration differences?

Agree, Einstein is the best choice for the arts due to VAPA and VAC.

My kid is not interested in VAPA or VAC.

It's a matter of scale. Blair is much larger, so has more course offerings, especially in math, science, and computer science. Einstein is much smaller, but offers lots of IB classes which Blair does not. As mentioned earlier, the Einstein principal is new there this year. Look fore more info about the academies described on each school's web site.

They are similar. Bad and bad... For low SES families and kids.

We are not a low income family (we make 400k a year) and we are happy with Blair.

everybody makes 400k or more here

Ha! We're in Bethesda, HHI just over 100K. (and no, we don't feel poor.)

“Better” is not a thing here. They’re very different schools, and both fine. Your child is the one to decide which is better for him or her, and then let the DCC choice process work itself out.
