Blair is a big school with more course offerings (especially if you have a kid interested in math and science), but it is such a big school that they have many elective offerings in every subject. They also have a better instrumental music program.

Einstein has the IB program, it has more school spirit, and a tighter knit community.

Are you walkable to either school? My kid could walk to and from Einstein. That convenience is priceless.

Thanks. It’s a bus ride either way. One of the buses is earlier but the stop is closer to our house.

I thought people liked the Einstein instrumental program?

I've only been an audience member, but the instrumental performances I've seen at Einstein have been terrific.

I didn’t say Einstein did not have a decent program, I just said Blair is better. I have been to many concerts at both.

Have you noticed any difference in the quality of the teachers overall? From a few interactions, I got the impression that Blair is better run. Is that accurate? Einstein seemed more disorganized.

Einstein feels like a small local school- Blair feels huge and not as community focused. Direct experience of both. Really depends on your kid- if they want/ red a program Blair has I’d do that, otherwise definitely Einstein

Are the teachers at Einstein as good as the ones at Blair? In what ways is Einstein more community focused?

They are similar. Bad and bad... For low SES families and kids.

We are not a low income family (we make 400k a year) and we are happy with Blair.

everybody makes 400k or more here

Whaaat? That is effed.

2-teacher family here. We make ~170K. Oldest DC is at Einstein IB this year; younger 2 will decide in a couple of years. Very, very happy with the school.

My child is having a great experience at Blair. We know several happy Einstein families too.

Ditto for us.

I like the multicultural nature of Blair. Einstein is probably pretty multicultural as well.

Blair's chamber orchestra is best in the state. Magnet pulls alot of kids that have been playing a while. Assuming wind ensemble is also very good, but I only know orchestra.

Einstein has a special music program that Blair does not have.

This is not true. Blair has more kids and more audition only music opportunities. It is a numbers game.

I am yhe Blair orchestra mom. I agree about audition opportunities, but I think Einstein has a performing arts program which is probably what pp is referring to. I don't know anything about it though.

I thought Einstein had a visual arts magnet, not performing?

Einstein has the Visual Arts Center, which is a countywide magnet program, and also has the Visual and Performing Arts Academy, which is open to anyone attending Einstein.

You don't have to audition for the performing arts academy program. Students do have to submit a portfolio for VAC.

Einstein also has a stronger dance and theatre program due to VAPA.

Blair mom here. Blair has talented kids, but theatre is weak. Don't know about dance.
