DH wants to spend his employee car allowance on this. I think it's tacky and low class

I was at a For dealership getting tires rotated and big Ford pickup trucks parked in front of the building had listed prices of $74,999

Tell your DH that’s it’s pretty lame when a lobbyist in a $1200 suit rides around in a giant $60K+ pickup truck on the streets of DC, pretending to be an all-American blue collar hero.

I’m guessing your DH is very much against labor organizing for better wages, right?

+1. Perhaps he should trade in something less tacky than the OP.

It is pretentious for people who are into truck and it is weird for granola crunchiness in the DMV. People who drive trucks look down on poppy cocks who get extended fancy cabin and lame cargo in a space, they think them trucks for show for rich people(which your DH is?). Wasps here think them terrible for environment and sign of tackiness and nouveau riche... If your DH doesn't care about either, then... who cares.

But that's the new fashion rage, you know? All them white collar people faking they are working with them hands and being real blue collar folk! Fancy, expensive plaid shirts, or even "gasp" Dickies for show! They are everywhere with their soft hands that never saw a day of hard work!

Call an Uber black SUV and it will be one of those 3 cars.

How is this much different? Every other UMC travel sports Catholic school parent drives one of these:

Not sure if you actually live in DC but the only people there who drive black Suburbans/Yukons/Escalades are for-hire drivers.

Nope my petite blonde mom of 2 neighbor has one in Arlington

Arlington is a suburb in VA.

You don't see these massive body-on-frame SUVs in DC proper unless they're being driven by an Uber Black SUV drivers.

Yuck. I would ask for something sleeker and more elegant.

If you put all the options in some of the limited edition half tons you are looking at around the 100k mark with taxes and fees by the time you get off the lot.

I lobby for a trade association and we also own a truck (but it is not a daily driver).

Here is my question:

Can your DH drive and park a truck in DC proper? Does this truck fit in his garage parking space?

Occasionally you see a lost suburbanite trying to park one and giving up.

So all those gigantic Suburbans and Yukons in school pickup lines, summer swim, and weekend sports tournaments are Uber drivers not moms and dads?

This is such a silly argument. When I say parents in DC I actually mean parents in the District of Columbia. I'm sure there are plenty of moms in Potomac, Sterling, Gaithersburg et al who drive giant Expedition/Yukon/Suburbans to their kids swim team meets in "North Bethesda" or soccer tournaments in rural VA or MD.

My kids go to a Catholic private in DC and play sports. The number of parents I know living in the city (even upper NW) who drive those vehicles are zero. GLs, MLs, Tesla, Range Rovers, Highlanders, Priuses, RX350s (i.e. normal-sized cars or crossovers) are common. Perhaps there are parents who live in the city and drive those cars but in my 15 years of living in DC proper I have not seen or met any. Your experience in whatever city you live in might be different.

I don't think it is tacky or low class, but unless he is hauling stuff, it is impractical and wasteful
