And sooner or later, you’re going to give one of them the attention they’re seeking. And then your plans for whatever you were doing that day, will change, and you’ll be in a hospital instead.

So your solution is to just put up with this ridiculous behavior? That is what they are counting on. I have spoken up many times and not ended up in the hospital.

Seriously. When did we become a nation of cowards? What more will you put up with?

Stand up FFS. "Excuse me, can you put on headphones?" Then point to the sign. If the person glares at you, keep staring back. You would have the support of every other person in the car -- except, of course, the scaredy cats who seem to believe everyone is out to get them.

Do you live in DC? I've seen people abandon entire metro cars to avoid some psycho with no one saying a word or confronting the person. There is a yearly article about how some kids stab/beat an elderly person while the rest of the passengers mind their own business. I'm not sure where you get the idea that you would have any support confronting a person on the metro

There is a difference between abandoning a car when there is clearly a mentally ill, homeless person ranting and someone who is simply being obnoxious by not using headphones.

Just know I don’t have your back if you start something with the person no wearing headphones. That’s all you. Good luck.

Take a look at what happened to this guy, who likely said something to a group of teens that harassed him on the street: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lt98V_KyQg4

Wow, this is scary. The guy's already down and the kid in a white tank keeps hitting him on the head, then a fat chick in white shorts comes and kicks the victim in the torso, and then another one runs up and spits on him.
Ugh, disgusting. Too bad the other guy didn't have a gun on him.

It’s happening everywhere. I wasn’t in the ER the other night at 1pm and some idiot was doing that in the small, cramped waiting area. The injured girl he was with was trying to sleep.

Oh hell no! I have not seen this lunacy on a flight yet. I don't think I'd be able to bite my tongue for that.

This is the most honest truth. Do not interact with these people. They are seeking confrontation and a target. Their Metro ride is their only opportunity to interact with the likes of you, and they are seeking you out. They want an excuse to get fired up.

Wow, right in front of the DC Hilton and apparently not remarkable enough to make the news. Yea I will maintain the usual commuter mentality of not interacting with anyone and stepping over the PP headphone police after their confrontation.

It was all over the news you racist idiot.

I really can’t decide if society is getting worse OR we just see more of it. Either way- people suck

NP here I have!! It’s usually kids and the parents pretend they don’t notice. I tell a flight attendant who addresses the issue. I also routinely have to tell teens at our pool that they cannot play music on the portable speaker they brought. They are usually rude and try to argue until I tell them I’m happy to alert the lifeguard. Then they usually comply and I’m sure say horrible things about me as I walk away.

I haven't noticed this. My guess is they forgot them? I'm not a fan of the rapper's on the metro. The things they rap about can be very offensive. I hear about bitches and hoes. I'm sure this makes me racist though because I should respect their "culture"

I have seen this a lot. It is the most breathtakingly selfish thing I see on planes. The parents do not care that their kid's loud, full volume cartoon and stupid singalong sounds are irritating everyone around them. I live in Europe and fly a lot, and it seems to be normal and acceptable behavior for parents of certain countries. They think it is perfectly fine.

Like, I'm totally not a fan of listening to, like, sooooo many people, like, rambling nonstop in their whiny vernacular and, like, inserting upspeak at the end of every single sentence whether it's declarative or interrogative. I mean, like, it seems to be a totally obsessive compulsive behavior so, like, they, like, absolutely have to insert a rising inflection every chance they get and it is, like, sooooo irritating.

Oh and not to mention the fact that, like, they use the word LIKE sooooo frequently I mean, like, it's utterly ridiculous I mean, like, if a court stenographer were to transcribe their conversations it would, like, totally just be a page full of "LIKE"s and it, like, just makes me want to vomit ugghhh and it, like, frustrates me sooooo much sometimes to where I want to just, like, scream at them to STFU!!!

So anyway, like, I totally get what you mean about not wanting to listen to certain things on the train but, like, I guess I just have to, like, deal with it because you know if I say something then, like, that would totally make me racist because, like, I should respect their "culture" and everything. Sooooo frustrating.

This sounds promising, what is baby shark?

You must not have a toddler.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XqZsoesa55w&t=5s -- it has 3.1 billion views

You know you have a 2 year old when you've heard not only the original, but all the variations on YouTube (including the merging of Baby Shark with other popular toddler songs like Finger Family).

I have seen arguments on the metro and bus begin from someone asking another person to turn down their volume or use headphones. I've also seen HEATED arguments over someone not moving their bag to let someone else sit down.

i keep my head down and my mouth shut when I ride public transportation. People suck.
