How to nicely communicate that we don't want anyone at the hospital for the delivery?

I had no plans for my mom or dad to be there during delivery and then my mom was actually the only person I wanted during birth—and we do not have some great relationship. You may feel differently about having your mom in the moment. I never expected that and it happened to me. So be careful about being overly rigid—your parents job is to adapt to your needs as they evolve. Tell them that.

Just say you will call from the hospital, and then call once the baby has arrived. It's not a lie.
