This is stupid and crazy right?

I'm with your husband too. You HAVE to participate in this wedding and post pictures/video to DCUM plus give us all the details. Would your DH be willing to do a live post during the actual ceremony?

This is one of the best posts I’ve read on DCUM. Right up there with Bobcat lady. Please, please OP update us and you or DH post love from the wedding. When is it?

She is passionate about animal rescues and from what I have heard her future husband met her there. I googled cat weddings and there are people dressing up their cats and including them in the wedding. There are even people who orchestrate weddings between their cats. DH thinks I should confirm that the wedding really is between her and another human and we are aren't traveling several hours to participate in a wedding between the cats.

I was firm on telling her that we would not be adopting the cat or becoming a cat foster. I'm hoping that she finds a better replacement for her sister than me. DH is hoping that I end up as the replacement, without the taking a cat home requirement, so he can get a video of it.

I’m with DH and please tell him to post the video.

This is very true. It is stupid and cruel to force all these cats into what is, for them, a terrifying, stressful situation. I am surprised any animal lover would do this!

My cat is a nervous, shaking, shrieking ball of anxiety when she has to be taken anywhere away from home. It takes her days to settle down and emerge from under the bed when I leave her at my best friend's house while we travel, and that's a quiet place with no other cats and only two quiet people. I once had to take her on an international flight, and when they made me take her out of her box to carry her through the metal detection area, she dug all of her claws into me and howled, then finally peed on me before I could get her back in her carrier. I cannot imagine taking her to a wedding full of people and sounds! The presence of many other cats would freak her out even more, because she gets super upset when a strange cat wanders into her yard. Your friend's cat wedding will be torture for the cats involved.

Your friend is really selfish and cruel.

Everyone walking down the aisle is technically just there to escort the cat which will be wearing a matching wedding attire to the human bridal party. She is in a fight with her sister who doesn't want to do this because she is allergic to cats. Cousin wants me to take her sister's place and wear the dress she bought for her sister. She doesn't want me to alter the dress in case her sister comes to her senses. Her sister is 7 inches taller than me and weighs over 100 lbs more than I do. When I told her this, she responded that the last time she saw me 2 years ago I was pretty heavy and it would just need to be safety pinned at the bottom for the height. Well I was 8 months pregnant with twins when she last saw me and even then I didn't weigh as much as her sister. I guess it really doesn't matter because you know the cats are actually the wedding party, I am just a human carrier.

This isn't the strangest part though. She is expecting everyone in the wedding party and as many guests as possible to adopt or foster a cat. She wants this to be a life saving event. She is very upset that many people are declining this request. She said that she is being firm that at least the wedding party needs to take their cat home. I'm guessing this is why her sister is saying no. I'm OK carrying a cat while wearing a giant mu mu dress but I'm not taking a cat home. I said no to the cat adoption and she told me that she may need to replace me with a more supportive relative.

You can't make this crap up.

You won't be OK with this when the cat scratches you in its terror. Which is what is going to happen. Is she planning to tranquilize all the cats?

On a serious note, I think you need a dress with paw prints as the pattern, you should definitely strive to fit in with the cat theme.

Or, maybe they can go with pre-shredded.

Haha, yes!

The bride should just have her party dress as Cats the musical characters, and then have some rescue cats in cages at the reception for people to peruse for adoption later.

I'm not sure I believe this is real, but it's fun.

Are they registered at Petsmart?

Please, please for the love of everything holy, go to this wedding and embrace the crazy as if your life depends on it. You will NEVER be able to top this.

Drink a lot, stash tins of liver pate and sardines in your clutch and feed your newfound feline friends. Pack catnip and watch the fireworks. Take selfies. Oh the selfies. #cattastic

If you don’t post an update you’re going straight to hell.
