This is just more economic pressure on China to play ball on tariffs.

India and Brazil among other places.

That act would allow Mr Trump to regulate commerce in the face of a national emergency that threatens the US, granting the US commerce secretary the right to review any deals involving a company which is seen as a risk.

This is expected to include China's Huawei, given the US has repeatedly claimed the company's kit could be used for spying on foreign countries by the Chinese state. This has always been denied by Huawei.

Duh.

Last year we told EU and African countries they had to choose 5g China or 5g USA. They are incompatible, so pick your long term partner.

Agree.

His actions are a black mark on the Obama admin and Jones Day. I don’t get why his partners allow this.

Yep.

It is unfortunate that liberals don't bother to understand the deeper reasons for the tariffs and won't support our president.

You spout the party line well but that has nothing to do with the topic at hand.

Like was said, it's unfortunate you don't understand the Chinese stealing U.S. technology.

I understand that but it’s totally besides the point of this current discussion. Huawei is going to build the UK’s 5G network so we might have to take all of our intelligence infrastructure out of there. That has huge ramifications for our intelligence capabilities going forward as well as for the US/UK relationship.

As opposed to what, having Huawei equipment in a network through which our intelligence info is transmitted is perfectly safe and sound?
