In front of a police officer? That's pretty dumb! Then again, MPD doesn't enforce much. |
I'm guessing you are the one who threw the water
Are we allowed to reach out and smack people bicycles while they're on it? Just curious. |
I mean, I called the guy a jerk, so I am probably not the person who threw the water. Smacking the hood of a car is not equivalent to smacking bicycle. It just isn't. Smacking the hood of a car does not damage the car and does not endanger the people inside the car. Smacking a bike could cause a person to fall and get injured. So, no, you are not allowed to reach out and smack people on bicycles. Or smack pedestrians. Or throw rocks at cars. Please tell me you see the difference between smacking a car and smacking a bicycle. |
Bike lanes are regularly used, and some bike riders who are not confident shifting into traffic will not ride outside them. But faster and more confident riders will, especially when there are problems associated with them. Of course bike advocates want bike lanes with fewer of those problems. |
Smacking a car, assuming you don’t damage it, just makes a loud alarming noise. Kind of like when drivers lean on the horn. How about car drivers lay off the horn when there isn’t an imminent danger. |
I can understand smacking a car if in danger to alert the driver. Not in anger or pique. The person who sprayed my husband with water and spewed profanity was basically having road rage on a bike. What a little petunia. He totally misread the situation, got pissed and acted out. |
| Cool story. Now what about the many people outside of cars who are threatened by people driving cars? You know, like getting severely injured or killed, not just squirted from of a water bottle. |
This is really a dumb idea. Creates disputes between neighbors and random people that can escalate to something bad. What about the driver who stops for 3 minutes to buy something at the store and who parks illegally for those 3 minutes. A busy body who has nothing else to do decides to ticket that person. |
Parks illegally by not paying the meter? I don't care. Parks illegally blocking a crosswalk? You're putting wheelchair users at risk and deserve to have your car impounded and crushed. Parks illegally in a bike lane? You're putting people on bikes and scooters at risk, so deal with a ticket. I think that people who primarily drive don't understand how negative their impact is on everyone else. |
Agreed. Rules do not apply to black people. |
| I'll say it again for the people in the Range Rovers: black people bike to. So do Hispanic people. They deserve safe streets too. |
If you can't find a parking spot outside the store then drive down the street and find another spot. Or walk there. Ir take the bus. Or bike there. You are not entitled to enough public space to store your private property wherever and whenever you want. Cars take up enormous amounts of space for parking and driving, if it is not enough please go to the suburbs or find a different mode of transportation. |
This really gets at the crux of the issue. |
Your life must be very scary and filled with amazing adventures. |
I highlighted the important part of your post. How long does someone have to park illegally before a ticket is appropriate? 5 minutes? 10? And how is thew ticketer supposed to know how long that car has been parked illegally? |
