Its only 7 min down Little River if that and I can say I'm happy by the level of commitment that club has. NPL league seem good we don't ever travel far maybe woodbridge (PWSI)? It's worth looking at if you want to shop around!! Don't be afraid to look around.

Annandale? Or Villarreal?

Same thing isn't it? They just changed the name but I still hear (white) parents calling it Annandale while more hispanics like calling it Villareal.

Im actually fairly curious about them. Is Villarreal heavily involved in the training aspect? Has there been any updates to the philosophy, etc? Or is it still just Bo Amato’s AUFC with yellow jerseys?

Lot of white folks in my part of Annandale — west of 495, east of Guinea, south of Little River, north of Braddock. But they’re mostly at BRYC.

I have three friends with kids there. They don't seem too impressed and two of three are looking elsewhere next year.

Also, once those 08 girls get a bit older, they will get the turf on a regular basis as well. We had to pay our dues at Lanier and Green Acres from u9-u10 or so...and now it's all turf, all the time. Though we often purposely schedule practices on some crap grass fields to prepare the boys for playing against other clubs' crap grass fields.

05B parent here -- Our kids practice 3x a week on turf now; we had to pay our dues on grass at U9 and U10 as well. All games at this age group are on turf as well.

Yes that's true that has always been the policy (no turf for below U11 except in winter/summer if unused by the older teams). So this 08 team shouldn't have a problem getting turf space next year as U12s.

Again though, the problem FPYC has is neighboring competing clubs don't make their U9-U10 travel teams "pay their dues". They get priority for quality fields, and usually know their fall practice schedule by mid-July at the latest.

Well keep in mind that there are less and less travel teams it seems so that MAY mean that the younger travel teams may see turf sooner. But isn't it ridiculous that we (including myself) put so much emphasis on turf when most of the world, who is so much better than we are, play on whatever they can find.

This is a valid point, but the price structure in some of these clubs is different too. Kids in Arlington, McLean, Loudoun, etc, pay well over $2k per year. FPYC is less expensive. I do agree that it is a very poor judgment by FPYC to deny a U11 NCSL division 1 travel team turf space while providing rec teams that pay significantly less with lighted turf fields.

Yea Villareal has changed Annandale alot I've heard nothing but good things, Jersey is not bad looking either. They have a good hold on the latino community from what I see.

I agree dont ever just put yourself in one spot look around and see whats out there. Hows Vienna Soccer doing? Thats right next to Fairfax.
