Jesus, talk about taking things to extremes. How about this: If you have a typical kid who likes soccer and is looking for team with a quality and positive coach in a low pressure environment then check out FPYC. |
Give it up already. Most parents are rational enough to realize their kids are not and will not be superstars. If you are waiting for your kid to be created into a superstar, please stay where you are and we hope it works out for you. Beyond that you are just wrong and uninformed. There are multiple players on local DAs who started playing their soccer at FPYC. There were players recognized in last year's All Met who had played multiple years of soccer at FPYC. |
|
More to the point, there are more kids not in DA or ECNL than in either league. So they should quit soccer? They don’t deserve a coach who will still do his/her best by the kids regardless of their ultimate soccer potential?
|
You have to understand, our area is filled with people who want to think they/their offspring are elite. Whether it's soccer, school, music, etc. It's about the water cooler talk, NOT the sport/discipline. It's more important that their kid play for the 'right' team or in the 'right' league than to actually be in the best spot for their kid. |
"Just learn the basics and not have high level competition"...So if you look for a club and league first for you 10 year old, then you are doing your child a massive disservice. You only care about yourself and how you are perceived. To think that small clubs do not teach more than the basics, you are lost. To think that NCSL does not provide high level competition is ridiculous. You should really stay out of this and let your child's other parent handle his/her soccer. |
| Are the practices at Draper park? |
| Seems like one parent is making alot of post trying to seem as if they're a group of people. |
I thought forums were to discuss "openly" opinions and suggestions? Well rumor is that FPYC is a circus, which is why no 2007 girls from what I hear. Its very disorganize from what I HEAR. Telling other parents to just beware is bad on a forum? .. Anywho Yes as someone posted seems like one person is trying really hard to seem as if a community is behind FPYC if so then go take your kids to FPYC. Just dont tell friends and families how bad it is. |
The history was well laid out and there appear to be no real red flags with the 08's. Thanks again for the "PSA" but you don't need to protect the world from soccer decisions that don't concern you. |
Wait why are we talking about FPYC? A soccer destination!
|
+1 how long has FPYC been around? I guess its a new club who hasn't established a good system yet which explains why people are defending them? |
The club isn't new, it is just small. The parent posted some tryout dates for a particular team. No promises or delusions of "eliteness" were mentioned. No bragging of State Cup or Tourney results, just a "hey, if you are interested think about it." I really don't see why the team or club need to be attacked in the first place. FPYC is not a power club, it does not pretend to be one and frankly for the right kid and family it could be the perfect fit. |
And this is one of the main reasons why the club overall has struggled to attract quality travel players in recent years. This is an NSCL D1 team, one of the 2 highest performing teams at the club, and it has to practice at 2 of the crappiest fields in northern virginia, while the older rec teams get lighted turf space. The powers-that-be at the club have decided that "we don't give preference to travel teams over rec teams" is the hill they're gonna die on, and that's exactly what they're doing. |
| The older rec teams have 1 hour practices on one of the turf fields at draper drive park, and travel teams have 1.5 hour practices. One field is scheduled only for rec teams and the other is set aside for travel teams. |
Maybe they should think about making both available to travel at some point. |
