I heard from another parent that Meggan Eckert is one of the coaches that is expected to leave BSC. I understand she’s a good coach but I never met her or saw her coach during a game.
No she is not a good coach. Yells, be littles players, undermines confidence, ices out players(ie will not talk to them at practice), gives conflicting instructions in the same yelling fit, no communication with parents, stifles creativity, girls play to avoid mistakes, risk taking is punished, fosters a mean girl environment, kills a lot of girls love for the game, girls never smile, etc. This is for u9-u11 girls. This does appeal to some parents. Her teams play better when there is a guest coach. I know a lot of players and parents are happy she is moving on.
Different people respond well or poorly to different coaches. We have good friends whose daughter has played for Meggan for two or three years, and they rave about her. We were hanging out with them over spring break, and they mentioned that they are very sad she is moving away from the area. They think she's done a tremendous amount to improve their daughter's confidence and understanding of the game. Our friends' daughter definitely hasn't lost her love for the game, and from seeing the team running around at SoFive this winter, they seem like a happy and tight group.
Yeah, some parents are too sensitive, and in reality its the parents that have feelings like that when their kids are perfectly fine and loving it.
Is it because she treats different players differently? I can see if certain players that has great athleticism, skillsets and/or very coachable, she might treat them better than the others. In any case, I’m sure BSC has to look for a good replacement to ensure continuity of the team. Hence, recruiting coaches from MRM or other surrounding clubs. One thing I noticed is that BSC is good at hiring female coaches for the girl’s team.
