| If every rich person gave away half their wealth randomly the world would be so much better off. The rich person would be karmatically better off too for helping others. |
It is one thing to give away your own money — go for it — and quite another to call for the confiscation and redistribution of other peoples’ private property. |

No one is trying to stop what you believe. You can be envious of every single person on the planet. No problem. I'm curious about this "thin thread" our system hangs by. People can ask for things... doesn't mean anyone has to provide them, right? |
All we are asking for is more FAIRNESS and EQUITY. It does not exist nowadays. When parents can use a bribe to get their kids into elite schools, when doctors can get bribes to prescribe certain medications, when companies are not providing airplane safety switches because they can make more money on the up sell to provide basic safety, something is wrong. Money rules too much of our society and it needs to change. Our society needs to be run by caring for and respecting people, not only caring for and respecting them after you have determined whether they are “worth” it. |
| Panhandlers off of I 95 and 175 exit(Columbia, MD) have nice cell phones and cigarettes and a boss. You can clearly see him waving and talking on the phone and people moving to new positions. It is hilarious! |
The Beggar King! |
No it would make it cost more to be middle class |
Wow, you really missed the point. ITS A SCAM. These people aren't homeless, or drug addicted, or mentally ill, or even down on their luck. They are con artists, the same as if they were calling you on the phone trying to get your credit card number. Try to keep up. |
New poster with a question: why does anyone need to be middle class? What if we just had one economic class that ensured everyone’s needs for food, shelter, clothing, medical care, and education were met and with a small stipend for a bit of discretionary spending/a few small luxuries? |
Isn't that what was promised in Venezuela? |

If they are con artists, it ought to be illegal. And police should enforce.
If there is any question, police should investigating. |
Because attempting to implement that (misguided) plan invariably turns a country into Cambodia, North Korea, Venezuela: everyone (but a few elites) has exactly the same, ie, next-to-nothing. And no individual freedom to boot. |
Because some people don't like working hard and watching others live off of them. Human nature. Most people want to help the truly downtrodden, but resent helping those who won't help themselves. Read "The Little Red Hen" and "The Grasshopper and the Ant." |
