You’re not helping people by giving them money directly. Homeless organizations and police don’t want the public giving money to panhandlers and advise against it in all circumstances. They want those in need to come through them, to access the social services they truly need and that will help them for more than two hours.

If someone is hungry or has mental health issues they cannot access the organizations to get help. What’s wrong with giving someone a buck or ten like I do every week? I grew up poor and now have money. I know how it is. Y’all some cheap assed folks.

They are no more of scammers than TV preachers or mega church pastors. People feel good giving money away. It's a placebo.

Many of the women and children you see are part of sex trafficking organizations. They aren’t keeping the money they get. You truly aren’t helping by encouraging panhandling. Give to reputable charitable organizations.

Just like you have every right to mistakenly assume those of us who support the distribution of wealth are poor, but you would be wrong. Some of us who think this way have had all the trappings of wealth and education you have, but have grown up to realize these things are not bringing happiness. We find joy in practicing what we preach; by giving away resources. If you don’t like it, fine, you won’t stop us. But it is a HUGE mistake to assume all
