Do you know any moms with 4+ kids who are inspirational?

Anonymous
All the moms I know with 4 are super energetic, fit, beautiful, and active in their community. Honestly, now that I think of it, they all are Catholic. I am due with my 4th in the summer and I hope I fit these descriptors as well after our new addition! (Well, the Catholic one I will at least!)

I actually know several mom's with 4+ kids. Very common in my area. Many well-educated parents, a few that seem to be a little overwhelmed, but most seem to manage their households just fine.

I know a couple of people like this. I don’t get it. Why wouldn’t you hire a nanny in this situation?

I would not as I'd want to take care of my own kids. Why have them to pawn them off on someone else if you are SAH (if you are working, need to work its different but if you are running errands or exercising... no). I'd have a much bigger house, nicer cars and a housekeeper twice a week.

The people I know are working. Two physicians. Kids in daycare. No housekeeper. What’s the point of this? It’s like they are trying to prove something.

med school loans are no joke

Not everyone has med school loans and then consider how many kids you have per cost and time/attention. My sibling had no loans. Parents paid for it.

How is this even possible? Doctors don't get sick days. And most work very long hours that start before daycare even opens. We know many 2-physician families, and they all have nannies, even after the kids start elementary school.

Yep. Several at our private school. We only have two and I can't imagine more but there are some moms of four who are super moms - involved in each of their children's activities, fit and healthy and work out every day, still maintain their own social life and go out to events and things multiple times a week, madly in love with their husbands, you name it. Also, just crazy nice people. I kind of wanted to hate some of them but I just couldn't - they're just awesome. I wish I had their energy.

My SIL is a mom of four and a total mess. But the rest of the moms of three and four I know are rockstars.

I know plenty of moms who are super fit because that’s what they prioritize — even if it means dragging kids to the gym daycare every day or hiring a sitter. My friend who has four kids has them spread apart age wise so the oldest is self sufficient and the youngest 2 (twins) are already in first grade. When they were younger, she had a nanny despite being a SAHM because her husband makes a load of money.

Why do you have so much disdain for these women? I know plenty of moms who are super fit without dragging their kids to the gym daycare or hiring a sitter. Most of them work out before their kids wake up or after they go to bed or when they're in school. Knock the chip off your shoulder - you just sound like a miserable person.

Most people don't have 4+ kids and still look a mess. Nobody cares.

She makes meals every day and educates her children, and she is well regarded by friends and neighbors as a kind and cheerful person, but I am pretty sure she doesn’t keep up with politics or have monthly bikini waxes.

What exactly does “keeping up with everything” look like to you, OP?

I’m talking kids a mess, house a mess, everything is sloppy.

I used to work as a cleaning lady, and I have to tell you, there are only two kinds of people in the world - those who can live like pigs, and those who can’t, no matter what. Which type my clients belonged to, definitely did not correlate with the number of children they had.

There are also plenty of secret pigs. You know, the people who look all put together outside of the house but then you see their house and it's like something out of hoarders.

I don’t know if any are inspirational but I know several who are well put together. One mom had kids young and has 4 kids ages 5-16. My guess is she is 40 and is very attractive. Both she and her husband are good looking as are their children. Perhaps she looked like a hot mess when her kids were younger but she looks fabulous now. Very involved at school and seems like a genuinely nice person.

Also know several moms with 4 kids married to surgeons and law partners. They seem like they have good lives. Moms stay home with help or work part time.

All the ones I know are super fit. Sometimes I wonder if I would be skinnier if I just had more kids.

My three year old loves the gym daycare.
