Congressional School

There are two sides to every story (not saying the girl or her family made it up) but wondering if the school handled it differently than is being portrayed. That's the confusing part - they're smart enough to know what could happen here, so it feels like there's a missing piece.

Maybe. It would be nice to hear more about the facts from the school's perspective.

That probably wouldn’t be all that wise with the litigation still pending.

Maybe the new head will clean house although there has been some significant turnover last two years for a small school.

Are most of the teachers coming back next year? Really, the stability of the faculty speaks to the health of the school.

That probably wouldn’t be all that wise with the litigation still pending.
What's wise and what is right are not always exactly the same.

The website shows their current turnover: https://www.congressionalschool.org/about/careers/
For a small school this is quite a few. When a Head leaves midyear, the health of a school should be questioned. This turnover is not a sign of strength.

I haven't read this whole thread so maybe this has already been said, but the only reason that school is staying afloat is because of the summer camp.

Each week, hundreds of families pay around $500 for their children to be supervised by low-paid high school and college students who sit around and text on their phones all day long. They pack in as many campers as they can because otherwise the school would go bankrupt. Boggles my mind.

This can't be right. The summer camp has been the most popular in the area for over a decade. Are you saying it's gone down-hill or it's always been this way?

The head of school was forced out unjustly, and NO ONE is saying a word. Even several threads on here got deleted because of the whistleblowing. The school just goes along like everything is fine, and lies to their admin, teachers and students. There were clearly admin posting here who were in the know about Janet Marsh. For those paying 25k+ in tuition it's just ridiculous.

Whistleblowing?

Both are basically true. The camps are hugely popular and unarguably a key financial contributor that allows the school to make ends meet. At the same time, the counselors are - by and large - high school kids. This puts it in concert with nearly every other camp on the planet that uses high school and college kids. My kids loved it when they were younger and the ongoing success of the camps speaks to the experiences of other families.

+1 Worth paying attention if you are involved or thinking of getting involved in school or camp.

All of the camps are staffed with HS kids, from Sidwell to St. Patrick's to River School. That is not at all unique to Congressional. We find it mind boggling that we continue to shell out money for this situation, but hey, here we go again!

So you are saying that Jeb Stuart and Falls Church High School are very highly rated being in Fairfax County?

Sounds like an opinion to say she was forced out unjustly as though you have inside information. No one knows why she left but what if it was for good reasons, so you sound like you have a bias in her favor to claim it was unjust. I don't know why she left but she was not loved by everyone so there is certainly more to the story.
