Congressional School

I heard the middle school social studies teacher may be moving on... does anyone know if this is true?

My sources tell me this is true. Lots of recent turnover and more teachers are rumbling about moving on.

Just read previous posts and agree, when a Head leaves during the school year something is really wrong and no doubt it’s ALL about the Board. Isn’t this the school with the crazy founding family?

We got that icky feeling when we were touring last year. Too much chaos

They can’t keep a middle school art teacher due to the bully lower school art teacher.

Her husband is also a teacher there... would they both be moving?

They just opened their new design labs, they seem to have some good momentum.

You may want to check your facts on the social studies teacher. The design labs are, indeed, outstanding.

Does everyone who applies to Congressional School get in? I have two kids that I would like to apply but don't want to get my hopes up if it is super competitive.

I don’t think it’s super competitive

Their preschool has a waiting list so they encourage people to apply by January to get an open spot. I am not sure about the rest of the school.

You are correct. They have a new Head now, but you make a good point about the board. Time will tell.

I think the new head of school is pretty terrific. He is always interfacing with the students and seems to really care about the children and the faculty. If the Head is happy and eager, it usually trickles down. I for one hardly ever saw the former head.

It is not competitive.

This thread is ridiculous. I had a kid at Congressional. The head left at the end of the year because her kid graduated out. She took a job at the school her kid was attending for high school. Not unusual in independent schools.

The lawsuit is ridiculous. It is not as stated. The truth will come out if they just ask the students. The kids all know everything.

Middle school teachers are excellent. Some are even beyond anything we could have imagined. There is a mother and son who both teach in the middle school. Not spouses.
Again, stop making assumptions.

Regardless,
my kid very much enjoyed their time at Congressional, is doing very well in high school, and I wouldn’t change a thing.

Janet Marsh left in October I believe, most definitely not at the end of the school year.

However, that is old news and the new Head of School appears to be doing a great job.
