New Palace in Forest Hills!

Wow - the dome is a bad replica of the Pantheon. Crazy place.

The dome kind of looks like the Death Star.

I think pp is right that the weird room is the garage. I think it has faux painted marble flooring and those thighs on the wall are Tesla chargers. This has to be for the middle eastern market.

Putin’s vacation house?

This place was nonstop construction for more than a year. I walked by it all the time and there were at least 2 or 3 trucks outside all day. It certainly was a local job creator!

I love the house across the street. It reminds me of the mid-century modern house I grew up in.

I love the former mid-century house as well. I would have liked to have seen an architect like Robert Gurney update it and transform it. Instead, we got a McMansion.

Yes. The old house was one of my favorites. It’s been so depressing watching them tear that down and build this atrocity.

I think this house could be great for the kind of rich person who always travels in a group of 20 or so people and can staff the house with at least 5 full time employees.

Downton Abbey - Forest Hills

Actually I do wonder why a person like that would want a house in D.C.
Maybe this is what a pied a terre looks like for that person. Just to use when they're here to buy our feckless politicians.

This is a future embassy residence. Period.

The two men running the LLC have ethnic names. This could be the case.

This is actually less gaudy than I expected. The only quip is these marble-like floors in what looks like the great room. There are climates that support tile/hard surface flooring choices but DC is not one of them.

Garage.

I think it’s the basement.

It's a drive-in basement garage for a collection of cars. Those things on the back wall are electric chargers for e-vehicles.

Plus, the yellow and black striping on the pillar is so you can easily see the pillar when backing out. This garage can easily hold 15-20 cars.

An ambassador's residence is making a lot more sense. They can pull the security detail into the garage without exposing the Ambassador.

The safe room?

The description says there is a secure safe room

Is it normal for a home meant an ambassador residence to just go on the market like this? Wouldn't there be a specific plan for who would own it before it is built?

Kleptocrat, diplomat, someone will buy it and what’s the difference anyway. Just the little flags on the cars.

All I can think of is the fabulous time I would have roller skating around it.

Hideous.
