Is Ocasio-Cortez pretending to be working class when she’s really not?

smart on in the sense that she's opportunistic and knows upon which people to prey - And they AIN'T the smarts ones, folks!

She is a political charlatan.

Unlike Trump, who is also genuinely working class.

They're both hot air - true opportunists. Trump went R b/c he saw the chance to capitalize on a group who felt threatened. AOC is no different. She's a twitter twit who loves to believe she's the savior of a fearful, quiet underclass.

two ends of the spectrum, same objective, similar methods

Divide and conquer . . . Refer to the women's march if you want evidence to support Macchievelli's successful method.

I don’t know who the boy she’s responding to on twitter is. But she has been back and forth with him, hence his tweets are noteworthy. I didn’t read his profile. And I don’t know what rwnj means.

You’re a f-cking liar.

DP. What an odd comment. Do you have some sort of mental incapacity?

Unfortunately, your response was nowhere close to clever.

However, if I'm reading you correctly, you're coming back at me, insinuating that I believe Trump's twitter rants are OK. If you read my post correctly, you'd see that I noted they were "two ends of the spectrum." So while I didn't directly come out and label Trump as a twitter twit, it's understood that he, too, loves misusing Twitter to further his agenda.

all good now?

No. How does Ocasio-Cortez misuse Twitter to further her agenda like Trump?

Only on DCUM.

I think a lot of people in dcumlandia are very out of touch and clearly don't have "blue collar" or "working class" friends and family.

FTR, I have a white collar job in DC, and I'm a registered Dem.

I've posted before about how my plumber and contractor---two professions that you might consider blue collar/working class---earn far more than I do. They have McMansions in MoCo, and vacation homes at the beach, in the mountains, and abroad (Greece, Europe, etc.). One sends his kids to private school.

While you might look down on "the working class," many of them are far better off than you are. They operate in cash and aren't paying taxes the way white collar people do.

Similarly, I do know a house cleaner and a manicurist who I do not consider working class. Everyone lives in moco and is doing very well.

The woman who shampoos my hair at a fancy salon in DC takes nicer vacations than I do (traveling internationally to resorts in addition to traveling abroad to visit her family). Again: she earns cash under the table on top of her hourly pay.

But the best example is my cab driver: he owns cabs and a side business. He lives in a $1.5 million home in the burbs, and his kids are attending ivies on scholarship. I'm sure the fine people of dcumlandia would look down on him as working class.

Moral of the story: don't make assumptions.

I don't think AOC grew up wealthy, but she certainly didn't grow up poor. She also didn't grow up in the Bronx. She lived in Westchester.

Imagine if your parents separated and mom moved to Potomac while dad stayed in SE DC. If you lived with mom and went to school in Potomac, it would be a stretch to say you're from DC...based on visiting dad. But that's exactly what you would say if you were running for the DC council, right?

FRR: I like AOC. Everyone should give her a chance.

Working class isn't synonymous with poor. You can be financially successful in a working class job. You can be poor with a white collar job.

Have you ever raised teenagers? or taught them?

If not, you certainly don't get AOC.

Yeah, you don't sound very working class, so you wouldn't even know what working class is supposed to "sound" like.

You are insane if you think her politics will play anywhere in the US outside of the Bronx.

This exact statement is why Democrats are so out of touch.

Lol, you know my Dad suggests that every time there is a shut down, and has for 40 years. I guess he’s brilliant too.

Likes attract likes.

The only gripe I have is the assumption that working class people (self-employed or perhaps like someone else posted, making money "under the table") are not reporting taxes. I know 1) tipped workers who need their employer to report ALL their tipped income, because they have children and rely on EITC--if employer under-reports, they get shortchanged on EITC; 2) self-employed people (members of my own family) who most certainly do report their income and expenses as accurately as possible. If you want to talk about chiseling on taxes, please refer to the Trump Family.

Might add that I have known couples where one has a white collar job and the other is blue collar/blue collar self-employed/blue collar part-time employed.

As for where one is from--unrelated to divorce, but I lived in one area until age 4, another until 19, then back to the first area until 32. I freely declare myself to be "from" both places.
