Is Ocasio-Cortez pretending to be working class when she’s really not?

Christ, you’re dumb. I’m not a millennial. You’re a grown, embittered person spinning out because of a dance video.
You couldn’t be more of a joke.

You can critique her without being a “hag,” “old,” or “embittered?” Are you perhaps one of those misogynistic, abusing Bernie bros.? Sounds like it.

So, you are the OP who claims to like AOC and to be a registered Democrat. If that is true, why are you posting tweets from someone whose Twitter profile identifies him as "a dapper, lib-triggering troll"?

I don't know whether he is correct about the average household wealth of Yorktown, but the family's home was purchased for $150,000 and was nearly foreclosed upon when her father died. That is not evidence of a lot of wealth.

Ocasio-Cortez lived in the Bronx until she was 5 and her father and extended father continued to live there. She actually now lives in the exact same apartment in which she lived until she was 5. I don't think she is lying about growing up in the Bronx. But, I do wonder why a Democrat would post a tweet besmirching not just one, but two Democratic officials.

She slightly changed the wording of her biography which never stated that she commuted from the Bronx to her school.

Regardless of your political registration, you are clearly siding with conservatives. In that respect, the first responder in this thread who identified you as an "obsessed RWNJ" seems to have been correct.

Jeff, out of curiosity, do you believe that LWNJ's exist as well? Or do you believe that only conservatives have the propensity towards nuttiness?

The fringes exist on both sides.

I agree. She doesn’t seem willing to buckle down and beyond well versed on policy issues. Social media will get you only so far as a democrat (standards seem to be way lower across the aisle).

Honestly? They really just want to hatef#ck her. I have a few Republican-leaning buddies and they are so ANNOYED that they think AOC is "hot." Because, as we saw in the dancing video, she actually is a gorgeous woman.

It's so pathological to see the GOP resort to school yard bullying behavior against a first term Congress rep who, in actuality, has very little tangible political power right now.

My guess is that she adeptly can play the GOP's own game (ignore critics, don't compromise, get sh#t done) and that's why they are already gunning hard for her. They are applying the Clinton and Warren media hate-machine against AOC.

The difference being Warren and Clinton are policy wonks, and AOC has this far been a lightweight with respect to policy.

Not really. Why are you and your ilk obsessed with a single member of a 435 person body on her first day of work?

Many Democrats do not like her. We think she’s smart, a great dancer, charming, even, but she doesn’t understand basics concepts about how government works, she’s got pie-in-the sky ideas like a 70% tax bracket, she inflates her self almost like Eva Peron or Margaret Thatcher - start working, learn, then talk incessantly. If Hakim Jeffries is too conservative for her, if she wants to primary him, we are all effed. Different districts need different representatives. We can’t have these ideological purity tests over who’s left or progressive enough. She’s promoting this holier than though attitude about disrupting the Democratic Party - can’t we disrupt the Donald first?

I am a democrat and was not referring to her as nutty, but some of the Bernie Bros definitely are.

You understand nothing. Fellow Democrat. The tax rate on highest earners - on a portion of earnings - was 90% in Eisenhower’s day, and around 70% during JFK’s tenure. She’s talking about looking at Reaganomics critically,as is Warren. As much or more to the point, the criticisms of her have been actual misogyny in action - creepy pics of her taken to try and prove she lied about financial anxiety based on her outfits, the shithead argument advanced here that she was somehow obligated to debate overrated dunce Ben Shapiro, and now all this deeply dumb fogey panic about how she’s the next coming of Stalin with the cult of personality bullshit. She voted for Pelosi and seems eager to learn. Let it breathe.

You use this black and white rhetoric at your peril. We can both believe Ben Shapiro is a dick who wet dreams about her AND think she’s a show pony when we need workhorses. Some of the criticism around her is accurate. We’re not going back to a 70% rate- have you seen the crazy new tax cuts?

We are going to have workhorses. Stop prattling on about AOC and you’ll have an easier time noticing them.
