We started trying to get pregnant at 40 (we met and married late). By 43, we knew we had to move on (I tried everything!) to DE. But it took me a year to wrap my head around it and to save some money. My biggest regret is waiting so long.

Baby aspirin and tracking ovulation very closely. Got pregnant naturally right after all embryos arrested.

Same here - 43. I had my first easily just before turning 40 (we won the lottery bc age was not our only issue as it turns out). We were told by multiple REs that we had a better than average chance, but still didn't work after many cycles. Not fun, but nothing about this other than success is.

I was 43 when I finally gave up on trying with my own eggs and moved to DE. It didn't work immediately and I turned 45 in the hospital after delivering my babies.

My only regret is in waiting so long to go the DE route, but then again, if I'd done that sooner I probably would have had a different donor and therefore different kids.

I find that dwelling on regrets means I'd also be wishing away the two kids I now adore, so that helps shut down the "woulda coulda shouldas".

Good luck OP.

relaxing!

FET and an embryo scratch.

I wanted to stab people who told me to relax at the time but it worked on an off month after a year and half at an RE. We were taking a break before moving to IVF but I was still taking OPKs just so we could give it a shot. But I didn't really care and had really let go of it emotionally.

Being in the throws of infertility is SO stressful, I felt like I was going completely insane.

1st kid - year of ovulation kits led to nothing. Doctor randomly suggested propping up afterwards & a milkshake every night while we waited for specialist appointment... pregnant that cycle. 2nd kid multiple failed IUIs, failed fresh IVFs, positive frozen IVF. 3rd kid (only 1 not in our 20s!), we had decided not to try & not to prevent, surprise pregnancy without any regularity to my cycle (still nursing #2). I agree with a PP... total crapshoot.

+1 - it really is a total crapshoot!

DHEA supplement (I mean, that's my guess. It was the only thing new I had added during the cycle I naturally conceived after 3 failed IUIs and 3 failed IVFs that year).

PP, you say "I turned 45 in the hospital after delivering my babies." Did you have twins from DE? If so did your RE put back more than one embryo? Did they start with 1 and then move to 2 or start with 2?

I am 43 and doing my last OE FET this month using two untested blasts from banked a year ago. I have low expectations and am 100% emotionally prepared to move on to DE. The package my clinic offers comes with 6 eggs and 2 FETs. I am wondering how many embryos they will put back at once (given that the eggs are likely good) and under what circumstances will they put back more than one.

Good luck!
I'm not PP, but I chose to have 1 PGS tested DE embryo transferred and it was successful. With DE it can make sense to do the PGS testing, as you're more likely to have more blasts. I didn't do it for my OE cycles. It's still about a 50% normal rate for DE. I would have loved twins, but wanted to avoid them, as the risks are higher and I know a number of people who've had significant complications with twins. There are guidelines for the #s of blasts to be transferred that reputable REs follow.

Thanks for the good wishes. My Clinic follows published guidelines; they started with lower number transfers and bumped it up after failure ie poor prognosis. With DE I understand it follows age of the donor. I suppose they will assume favorable prognosis to start and adapt if needed. I am not seeking twins at all but I am seeking success after many many heartbreaking failures.
