PP, you say "I turned 45 in the hospital after delivering my babies."  Did you have twins from DE?  If so did your RE put back more than one embryo?  Did they start with 1 and then move to 2 or start with 2?

I am 43 and doing my last OE FET this month using two untested blasts from banked a year ago.  I have low expectations and am 100% emotionally prepared to move on to DE.  The package my clinic offers comes with 6 eggs and 2 FETs.  I am wondering how many embryos they will put back at once (given that the eggs are likely good) and under what circumstances will they put back more than one.

I'm not PP, but I chose to have 1 PGS tested DE embryo transferred and it was successful.   With DE it can make sense to do the PGS testing, as you're more likely to have more blasts. I didn't do it for my OE cycles.  It's still about a 50% normal rate for DE.  I would have loved twins, but wanted to avoid them, as the risks are higher and I know a number of people who've had significant complications with twins.  There are guidelines for the #s of blasts to be transferred that reputable REs follow.

Thanks for the good wishes.  My Clinic follows published guidelines; they started with lower number transfers and bumped it up after failure ie poor prognosis.  With DE I understand it follows age of the donor. I suppose they will assume favorable prognosis to start and adapt if needed. I am not seeking twins at all but I am seeking success after many many heartbreaking failures. [/quote]
