Tried for a year with charting and didn’t use protection for about 4 months before thst. After a few months of clomid, decided to move to IVF. While waiting for our first appointment I (a) got an HSG (everything was clear) (b) resolved an ongoing problem at work (c) started accupuncture and (d) tried every day (6 days in a row) during my potential fertile window.
I took a positive pregnancy text 7 weeks later, on the day of my first ivf appointment. The accupuncturist told me I had something with Fallopian tubes (I forget what) and he was clearing the energy. I don’t usually buy into that but my Ob was on board. I used to get bad mid-cycle cramping during ovulation and I don’t anymore. |
Any recs for DC-based acupuncturists? How old were you? |

Acupuncture, checking cervical mucus and cervix- don’t rely on tests, pre seed. Changing my attitude toward infertility. It sucks, but I stopped blaming myself. Be open to what the universe has to offer. Sometimes it’s spontaneous conception, IVF, foster, adopt, donor egg, childless not by choice. Empower yourself.
I did get spontaneously pregnant at 41 after being told by 3 REs that I had less than 5% chance. aMH less than .01. |
| DE + surrogate. |
| IVF, second protocol not first |

Subject: I tried everything but ___ finally worked!
IVf worked for us both times we did it (twins and a singleton). Prior to that I had done every natural remedy in the book. IVF worked like a charm for us twice and in 12 years total of unprotected sex (most of it TTC with perfect timing) we never once got pregnant naturally. I'm now 44 and looking back at my child-bearing years (youngest child is 9). We were always unexplained (all testing normal the 3 times we did it) but something was wrong that IVF fixed. I'm still confused why we never once got pregnant on our own. |
If your sole problem is thick and hostile cervical mucus then Mucinex may increase your chances of getting pregnant. There has been some research on this matter to suggest it, but it’s probably a very small percentage of women that have this as a primary problem. It’s possible this poster just had this specific problem, and if so I don’t see how it’s cruel to state that it worked for her. However, it would be cruel if she suggested something like this to someone struggling with infertility. |
Your thyroid? A recent NIH study suggests most unexplained is a thyroid proble. |
| FET- Fresh transfers never took for me. |
Dr. Gao out of foggy bottom is great for fertility related issues. She's not cheap but helped get me and a friend pregnant. For me I had suffered from 3 years of unexplained IF with our first and had to do 2 ivfs. Our second - everything looked worse. I was doing acupuncture to get my body ready for starting ivf again. I started 6 months out and lo and behold my first positive in my life right shy of 3 months in to sessions. My body has always been very responsive to acupuncture. I did it for years before, but this was the first time using Dr. Gao. You will be there for 2 hours each session but it's worth it. |
I agree that it is a crapshoot, but disagree that it’s dangerous to try different things. I had 18 months of infertility after a spontaneous pregnancy and missed miscarriage. Tried everything that time and the only thing that worked was IVF. Got pregnant spontaneously 4 years later and done. |
