^^^I agree--no way they would saddle a child with the weight of that name.

Diana has been dead for 20 years now. By the time that kid is in adulthood, few people will have a strong memory of Diana. Especially given that this child will be a "minor royal" just like Beatrice and Eugenie, the Diana name will give the kid more star quality, which Meghan will surely understand.

Like Harry, I lost my mom when I was young. I gave my dd her name as a middle name, but there was no way I could have used it as a first name. That would have been way too painful. They may use it as one of her middle names, but I very much doubt we'll see it as her first. Assuming this baby is a girl, that is!

I’m surprised, DCUM being DCUM, Diana is not being suggested here as a boy’s name as well. Or why we aren’t all being scolded for assuming that this child’s assignment at birth would be valid down the road.

They wont use any last names as first names. The Royal family's last names have been chosen through a complex process. They drop last names for specific reasons. These aren't random. The name Spencer is VERY unlikely to pop back up for a long time.

You didn't hear? Dian upstream?

Diana HATED Philip Duke of Edinburgh. Her sons know that. It won't be Philip.

Are you high? Neither of these names will make the list.

No I am not high. I think they are beautiful strong names that are used by a lot of African Americans.

Wrong. Her name is Charlotte Elizabeth (1st middle name) Diana (2nd middle name)

Ok fine but most people would refer to it as her third name.

NP. That doesn’t make it not a second middle as well.

If they want to be different, they will probably look closely at Scottish names like:
Boy: Malcolm (lovely name underused), Kenneth, Duncan
Girl: Henrietta, Marjorie, Gwendolyn, Cora, Fiona, Glynnis.

If they go Christian (I doubt) they will look at Christian or Paul (boy) or Joy (girl). Luke is highly unlikely.

Diana would be a middle name, and Doria will be saved for second child in the form of Doria, Dorothy, or Dorian (boy).

I agree with Jane. Or possibly Janet to keep it contemporary.

Janet Tudor Diana

or

Glenn Dorian Dian Tudor

They are NOT using Tudor, Buckingham, Wales, Kensington, etc as a middle name.

Those are titles.
