I am a liberal and I find Sidwell liberals very smug so I can understand why conservatives would prefer the Cathedral schools.

okay tolerance goes both ways. I know very few conservatives who have a problem with liberals but just about every liberal I know really attacks conservatives including wanting to shut out their kids from schools. Keep in mind this is why the former head of Beauvoir was fired-she wanted to keep out conservative families. Thank god calmer minds prevailed and she is gone.

The only conservatives this liberal attacks are the ones who defend racism, misogynism, xenophobia and homophobia. Unfortunately, in our current climate, if you vote Republican (many conservatives are not) you are supporting all of those values. So yeah, kind of have a problem with it.

DP here. Just because conservatives and pro-Trump families may choose the Cathedral schools as their first choice does not necessarily mean the Cathedral schools choose them. Cathedral schools’ handbooks specifically say they value diversity, inclusicity, and a tolerant community. They choose their community by who they admit into their community.

You are clueless about the Cathedral community if you think valuing diversity, inclusivity, and a tolerant community means no conservatives and pro-Trumpsters. There are a significant number of such families there, as evidenced by the Beauvoir and STA moms who held a press conference on behalf of Kavanaugh.

NCS and STA accept the majority of their students from Beauvoir, which accepts students from well-off families that can afford private school tuition starting in pre-K or K. Strangely, a large number of those wealthy families are conservative Republicans.

I am not touting this. I am a dyed-in-the-wool liberal, long-time Cathedral parent. Parents of both political persuasions are generally civil and politics usually don’t interfere with maintaining a friendly community vibe, However, at certain times, such as the recent Kavanaugh hearings, things get more strained.

In the run-up to the 2016 elections, Cathedral parents were reminded to be careful of what we said at home about those holding opposing political views. That was a difficult election for the community because the blatant anti-immigrant and xenophobic nature of Trump’s campaigning evoked strong emotions.

She was fired for a number of different reasons, most of which had to do with competence, leadership, and interpersonal skillss — or lack thereof.

Baloney it was the truth. The other stuff true also. By the way even your reasoning was wack-keeping out anyone based on politics is not okay. Pretty sure you would have had no problem with the Biden’s. Also Trump did not look at Beauvoir-not age group. His daughter (for her kids) chose a Jewish school purposely in line with her faith. Also a great school.

Ivanka’s children were not welcome at Beauvoir. They are the Trumps referred to in the previous post.

Most Beauvoir parents would not have welcomed any kids requiring constant security.
