Arlington DA

I really doubt anything has changed style-wise because they went to DA and other clubs now play their B teams which are still playing long ball.

Well as you just said, you haven't seen it for yourself. Numerous people here have and are saying otherwise. Now why are you insisting they are all wrong? Agenda much?

Not PP. We were discussing improvements to BDA, not girls.

This thread has been discussing the GDA since the start. I think it would make more sense to start a separate BDA thread so not to confuse the topic.

Why does it matter? They both fall under the same Director. They should have the same goals and philosophy.

I tend to agree.

Why don't they change the way the girls play like they are with the boys?

As has been pointed out by a number of people in this thread, the girls side is playing that way. All of the posts up to the last few diversions to the boys side were observations and comments on the girls side.

Wow, girls went from run-and-gun to possession soccer over the course of a summer. Great work Arlington.

There's no magic involved. It's just communicating a philosophy and practicing it. It's not as if their previous years ruined them because God forbid they played a different style.

I haven't seen the GDA teams play yet but as far as the BDA teams, yes I do think they play a more possession based style than Arlington teams have typically been known for.

Arlington has always been hit or miss when it comes to possession vs run-and-gun. Well, mostly miss, but there were always some exceptions. Now, combined with the coaches they've brought in from outside, they've put their more possession based coaches in charge of their DA teams.

Also, didn't the GDA teams bring in a lot of non-Arlington players? Especially on the 05s, it looks like less than half the team is from Arlington.

For the boys its kind of misleading. Many of their 05s and 06s were previously on Arlington teams, but only for a year before being eligible for the DA. The reality is they were mostly developed elsewhere.

I know on the boys side there was a big push up from Red to DA last year, then this year a bunch dropped back down and this pushed others to lower teams.

This year in particular I have seen a lot more possession based play at all levels, it sometimes doesn’t work and the kids seem to fall back to older habits of pressure and some through balls.

On GDA: we played them this year and last year. Even with new players, same soccer style. A blend of possession and lota of run and gun. Same coach too.

What are you talking about? Arlington didn't even have GDA until this year.

There is an outsider here who's trying to make the case that the DA and ECNL teams suck. You can see the posts come in spurts trashing each of the top options. We are one of the targets, but not the only one.
