Regifting, passing off gift bags, buying a kids' meal for yourself is cheapskate.

I often buy a kids' meal for myself because that is the portion size I prefer. Adult portion sizes, particularly of pastas and burgers, can be grotesquely large.

+1 Full sizes are just too much food, and I'm not always in a position to take the rest home.

I agree but I do get annoyed when a restaurant says I can’t order from the kid’s menu even though I’m paying.

It's true most restaurants specify these meals are for kids under 12. But nobody cares about delivery, and of course it's not like DH isn't eating the full price adult meal. It just seems crazy to me to waste a) the food and b) the money.

I’d say the cheapest thing I do is iron the wrinkles out of tissue paper that has come in boxes and gifts so I can reuse them.

Tissue paper lady here and I’ve also reused bows (sometimes have to tape them if the adhesive has worn out.

Also...still have hand me down furniture from my parents (it’s decent, but still) including an entertainment center that was handed down to me to use in my bedroom in high school. I’m in my 50’s.

I use my 2-week contact lenses for 3 weeks.

I would go dumpster diving at tire store near house. Folks have a tendency to buy tires in pairs or all four at a time. Not all worn out. I would then use on car.

Broke up with girlfriend in early December as her birthday in January. Got back together late Feb.

Saved me Xmas gift, New Years Eve, Birthday Gift and Valentine's Day.

I use mine for a month or two...I don’t wear them every day, though.

I think the most cheapskatey thing I do is reusing a tea bag, for a second cup of tea.

My mom taught me to always put a little water in an "empty" spaghetti sauce jar and shake it to get all the sauce off, then add that to the already-poured-out sauce.

First time I did that with DH he was like WTF? Why are you watering down the sauce?

But I still obsessively do it.

What is wrong with regifting? and reusing gift bags? My DD got so many things she will never use for her bday, so i regift them. Obviously I only do it for kids that would like the gifts.

Dum dum, pp was just pointing out that some things are cheapskate (title of thread) and some things are theft. You do stuff that is cheapskate. Why are you defensive about it. There is nothing wrong with it; it is what the thread is about.

Came here to say just this. The worst part is, so many of these degenerates are *proud* of their actions.

But I will give popcorn OP a pass!

I work on a college campus and they have student events with pizza all the time. Took home leftovers like twice a week and fed to my kids for dinner. Fringe benefits!

I take the work tampons. Haven’t bought tampons this year!

Wow I could sweep with free tampons but nobody stocks the playtex. Tampax is everywhere.

Apparently I’m a cheapskate for offering $200 for 2 tickets to Hamilton to a Nextdoor lady 3 neighborhoods away. $100 would triple the amount I ever paid for an event ticket in my life. I’m still shook.
